Situated in a small hamlet 4kms from the thriving market town of Chorges (2 hour drive from Marseille airport) 3 star tourist board rating All bed linen, tea towels and bath towels included. Larger groups can be accommodated: Studio Chez Mary sleeps 2/3 and Suite Chez Mary sleeps up to 4 - contact me for details. Please note that end of stay cleaning is not included in the rental. The detail....... The gîte is on the upper floor of what was originally a working sheep farm. It consists of one large light and airy open-plan living/dining/kitchen area, three bedrooms, a large bathroom and a separate toilet. The outside space is a balcony (4.55m2) leading from the living room and, at the bottom of the wooden stairs that lead to the gîte, a large covered wooden terrace (55m2) exclusively for guests' use. The living area has two large comfy sofas, either side of a central coffee table, and large french doors leading onto the balcony. There is a flat screen 32 inch HD television and unlimited internet access, as well as a variety of games. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a fridge freezer, dishwasher, electric fan oven and hob, microwave oven, toaster, electric hand mixer, liquidiser, coffee machine, kettle, raclette machine and fondue set. The oak dining table comfortably seats six people. High chairs are available on request. Bedroom 1 has a king size bed (160 x 190cm). Bedrooms 2 and 3 each have two single beds (90 x 190cm) which can be joined together to create large king size beds (180 x 190cm) if required. If there are 7 in your group, there is plenty of space to put an additional single bed into one of the bedrooms. We can provide a cot for a baby. All bed linen, tea towels and bath towels are included, and you will find all the beds made up when you arrive. The spacious, modern bathroom offers a large walk-in shower, twin wash basins and a double-ended bath tub. Also in the bathroom you will find the washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a separate toilet and hand wash basin. Heating is by means of a wood pellet burner and electric radiators. There is covered parking for two cars (and EV charger) and we have plenty of secure storage space for bikes and skis, etc. The summer months offer markets, live music in the streets and swimming and water sports at the Lac de Serre Ponçon (10 mins). In winter you have a choice of ski resorts in close proximity. The small family-friendly resorts of Réallon and Ancelle are the closest (30 mins away). For more extensive skiing Les Orres is at 40 mins, Vars/Risoul at 55 mins or Serre Chevalier at 60 mins. There is also good cross-country skiing. Throughout the year there are villages to explore, good food to eat and great walking/cycling/mountain biking, with trails direct from the front door. There is white water rafting and kayaking on the Durance river, as well as paragliding and climbing. We are on hand and happy to assist as required. We access our living space from the other side of the house and so your privacy is guaranteed. We speak English, French and Spanish. Getting here: By Car: By Plane: Marseille is the closest airport at 2 hours away. Other airport options are Avignon (2h 16m), Grenoble (2h 20m), Nimes (2h 37m), Chambery (2h 37m), Turin (2h 45m), Toulon-Hyeres (2h 51m), Lyon-Saint Exupery (2h 52m), Nice (3h) and Geneva (3h 30m). By Train: London to Paris by Eurostar, arrives at the Gare du Nord Transfer by Metro to the Gare d'Austerlitz. We discovered this part of France in 2016 and fell in love with the area so I imagine we'll be back again soon. Last time we flew to Marseille and hired a car but this time we drove. It took us all day but it's definitely worth it! The apartment is spotlessly clean and has everything you need - we love the pellet burner in winter, especially after a day's skiing! This year there wasn't so much snow (we skied in the mornings only) but that wasn't a problem as we went hiking and exploring too. Although we didn't have the snow we had fabulous blue skies and lots of sunshine - just the tonic we needed. Thanks Mary for another great stay! ##### Simon M. La location est volumineuse, d'une propreté irréprochable, fonctionnelle et dotée d'une vue panoramique exceptionnelle. Un environnement calme, silencieux et très reposant. Mary and Simone are very friendly hosts, gave us a warm welcome and will help you willingly for any question you have. Assurément une des plus jolie vue du département. Au pied des Aiguilles de Chabrieres, à l’entrée du col de la Gardette, vous serez face au pic du Grand Morgon. La maison dispose de tous le confort, décoration soignée et propreté irréprochable. Elle est également idéalement située entre nature et commodités proches (a 5min de Chorges et 25min de Gap). Mary et Simon sont des hôtes adorables. Bref nous espérons revenir très prochainement :) ##### Remi R. The apartment is spacious and very well equipped (with fabulous views) and Mary was extremely helpful with everything. The skiing at Reallon was good - it's a small resort with friendly people so perfect for us as a family. Not too expensive either! We would love to come back in the summer so that we can enjoy the lake and all the water sports, as well as the summer hiking. Merci Mary! À bientôt ! ##### Mary K.
