Built in 2005, this home comfortably sleeps 8 and is furnished in a chic coastal style with wood floors, open beams, high ceilings, and fantastic natural light. The bright and open first floor boasts a great room with cathedral ceilings and a stone fireplace. The screened-in porch is adjacent to the living room and offers a peaceful retreat to read a book or enjoy the views of the surrounding landscape, comprised of a spacious lawn with blueberry bushes for baking in-season pies and muffins. Completing the peaceful outdoor oasis is a patio for outdoor dining, and an outdoor shower where you can rinse off after a day well spent surrounded by nature. The well-equipped kitchen offers everything you need to prepare gourmet meals at home using local farmer’s market bounty and the day’s catch. The kitchen is open to both a bar and dining area, the perfect layout for entertaining family and friends. The location of the home is truly perfect, close to the busier parts of the island, and yet so peaceful and private. The kitchen has every amenity, and the private beach is amazing. The host is so communicative, and gave us great recommendations for activities and restaurants. We can’t wait to visit again!
We had THE MOST MAGICAL stay in Chilmark. The house was charming, tidy and accommodated our family of 5 perfectly. We loved cozying up by the fireplace in the evenings and playing croquet in the yard while our youngest napped.Most spectacularly was the private beach down the road. Boating across the pond to the beach will absolutely become a core memory for our children (8, 6 and 3). They couldn’t get enough. Also our host Benjamin was very prompt whenever we had a question. A lovely stay. We can’t wait to come back.
What an amazing place! It truly feels like a retreat from everything, a great spot to unwind. The home is even more beautiful than the pictures, and full of more than enough books, knicknacks and games to catch your quiet time attention. The kitchen is extremely well equipped (as a cook that is important to me). The grounds are beautiful, and the location is terrific, easy access to the best beach on MV, a short distance to Chilmark General Store which has some of the best quick serve food on the island. The host was terrific to work with, the house was clean and easy to access. What a great place! I hope to rent again.
Our family rented this home for a month in July and August.
The house's design and layout were perfect for our family, offering both comfort and convenience. The well-appointed bedrooms, spacious living area, and fully-equipped kitchen made us feel right at home.
The availability of the tennis courts allowed us to indulge in some friendly family matches, and a huge highlight of our stay was the proximity and access to the amazing Abel's Hill Beach. We also loved walking and running in the surrounding nature trails.
It was a wonderful and very special summer rental--highly recommend!
Superlative. We have rented many homes on the Cape and MV over the years, expect comfort and high quality!!! and give this home our highest recommendation. Chilmark is a gorgeous area and Abel's Hill is THE BEST, with access to a glorious private beach (very hard to come by on MV since there are few public beaches and parking is tough) 3 private tennis courts a 5 minute walk and walking trails with views just up the way. The house is extremely comfortable, traditional style furnishing (in very good taste - not at all kitchy or cluttered ) extremely well appointed (kitchen is terrific and equipped with everything you can possibly think of! nice linens, comfortable seating for meals and also in living room for hanging out, lovely outdoor shower. Everything in the house is in extremely good shape and CLEAN (very well maintained.. nothing is in the slightest bit grotty!) which is important to us. Excellent internet. Lovely enclosed porch with rocking chairs and wicker, outdoor table and serene lawn with beautiful old plantings. There are homes in vicinity but we never heard anything but quiet in nature- bunnies, birds and stars at night. Rubber floor gym space in basement with hand weights for workouts is really handy. The owner is OUTSTANDING. Immediately responsive, kind and thoughtful. He cares about your holiday and satisfaction. First rate. Ben-thank you for sharing your home with us. We will certainly come again.
Easiest check in I have ever done in a house rental, the owner was easy to reach and communicated all the details prompt & clearly. Fully stocked kitchen, great for making home cooked meals if that is your desire.
