We had such a wonderful time at the Outrange on Blue Heron Farm! It was great to have such nice accommodations, plenty of space to explore and a dog friendly rental. Highly recommend!
Lovely property in a great town. Host was communicative and very accommodating - this is a very special, magical place to stay. Highly recommend for a getaway :)
We brought our Lab with us. She loved looking out all the windows. She was afraid to walk up the open stairs but was content to sleep on the first floor. We enjoyed our stay at Outrange. Very quiet and secluded. Short walk to River.
My family and I had the best time at the Outrange. The house is super cool. But the access to hiking, kayaking and even goats made it perfect. Ben is super good at communication. He responded to any of my questions quickly. I can't say enough about it. Just a really lovely property.
This cabin was the perfect staycation for my husband and I to take our three dogs. Before booking the owners were great communicating that they were dog friendly. We wanted a simple spot were we could let our dogs off leash and take swimming. Our pups had an absolute blast. The dock is a great spot for dogs that like to swim or just splash in the water. The weather was perfect, though we did check Riverkeepers for bacteria levels before we got there. The kitchen was good for us to cook all our meals and the dogs enjoyed the spacious ground floor level. We saw butterflies, lizards, so many birds and a wild otter! We will absolutely be booking again in the future.
Wonderful stay in the cabin on Blue Heron Farm. The cabin was cozy and inviting, well supplied and extremely private. Kudos to Ben, the host, for making us feel welcome and comfortable. We’ll be back!
The cabin is cozy, comfortable, and very clean. The real star of the show is the landscape. Beautiful trails, shady spots around the outside of the house to enjoy a cold drink, and a dock equipped with kayaks and, when the tide is low, a little beach. My dogs had the time of their lives jumping off the dock for their bumper. Even my non-swimming dog could splash around on the beach. We have already booked another, longer stay later in the summer.
A time was had! Very much needed time away from society but not to the point of complete isolation. A car is definitely needed, off road vehicle recommended if possible. Host made sure to communicate with arrival directions. Pretty straight forward to get there but it can be a bit confusing if you’re not paying attention. The cabin is well kept, with great amenities. The doggies loved it! Off leash play was the highlight of the trip, the dock is a plus! Nature & happy doggies happy parents. Would definitely come back!
Kayaks were a great plus! Ideal spot for a small family with easy access to the the beautiful Chester River. Our grandchildren had a blast, visiting the pigs, chickens, and sheep that were within easy walking distance.
My kids and I absolutely loved our stay at the Outlook! So peaceful and relaxing. We spent a lot of time walking around the trails spotting deer and toads. We did a good amount of fishing on the dock, catching catfish. I hope to stay here again in the future.
Outrange is the kind of remote place we were looking for. Very private, clean rustic feel.Great access to the river and Ben provided kayaks for us to use. We also did a lot of walking on the property. Overall it was an A for us.
This is a beautiful and tranquil cabin on a farm, a short walk from a major Eastern Shore river. Surrounded by farm land, dog friendly, cooperative hosts, and very, very restful.Privacy is very good to excellent ... one other cabin nearby, but not so close as to be an issue.Nearby is Chestertown, with extremely good restaurants and a lively progressive collegeWe had a wonderful time and would return!
I LOVED THIS CABIN! I was in Chestertown with friends for a native plant society conference at Washington College which I also loved. When the conference sessions ended, I couldnt wait to get back to enjoy all the cabin had to offer. I kayaked at dawn and was greeted by a Kingfisher and Great Blue Heron and had the river all to myself but for the wildlife! Back from the conference in the late afternoon, I hiked the trail in the rain and found the friendly pot bellied pigs and the goats who were all huddled together hiding from the rain in their shelter. Further down the trail was the farm field converted to a pollinator habitat (we heard about this initiative at the conference). What a great confirmation of this local community cooperation in support of wildlife. The storm got more intense with thunder and lighting and we watched from the floor to ceiling windows of the cabin. Once the storm eased up some, out to the rockers on the front porch to enjoy delicious snacks obtained from the swell Chestertown Farmers Market. It is so apparent Ben and his wife really care about this cabin and the enjoyment of their guests. I did not get my fill and I hope to return soon. I still want to know the story behind the picture of Ben Franklin in the kitchen.
