We had a great stay! Comfy beds and close to everything we had planned. The house is on a quiet street with a great deck with a view of the mountains. Our host was proactive with communications very responsive to any questions we had. We would stay here again.
This was a great place to stay! It had everything we needed after a long and fun day of activities from the fire pit to the hot tub. The property manager was fantastic and also gave us some great recommendations. Thanks so much for letting us stay in your home!
Our family loved this property. The woodsy property lines made it feel more secluded and the homeowner was very helpful offering restaurant and hike options! I loved the hummingbirds in the trees out front!
We stayed at the house for four nights. It was so lovely, especially sitting out on the back deck. Everything was exactly as presented and we were very comfortable there. No complaints, we would happily stay there again!
My husband and I stayed in this home for our annual anniversary trip. We love hiking and brought our dog with us for some active relaxation. This home was one of the best we have stayed in. It had everything we needed, and was clean and comfortable. Conveniently located about 15 minutes from Front Royal where there was plenty to do; yet also steps away from a trail in the neighborhood, which intersects with the AT. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Wonderful Spot Near the SNP
This home is great location if you are interested in hiking in the SNP. It had everything we needed for a wonderful and relaxing weekend! There were a lot of added extras from the owner and the kitchen had everything we needed in order to have relaxing breakfasts and lunches at home!
We enjoyed our time in N Charleston! This property was extremely conveniently located. It was clean and we had everything we needed! Even being greeted with a bottle of champagne. Final note, the beds were *extremely* comfortable!
The owner communicated well and was very responsive. The fireplace stove was great and we used the hot tub every day. Kitchen was well stocked. We cooked almost every meal and had everything we needed. The office space is a nice, private, comfortable space, as well.
The house was in a great spot that abuts SNP, with a great hike right from the house (Compton peak). The house was nicely furnished and had the little things that can be forgotten on a trip. The hot tube was nice after a day of hiking!
Love the house so much wanted to stay an extra night, great comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, the house and the deck was just wonderful. I give it a five star excellent excellent place to stay. Just make sure you have a good Subaru vehicle to hike up the hill.... Would love to stay here again....
A newly updated property with great amenities and privacy. Very close to the Appalachian Trail and the national park, downtown Front Royal, winetasting and more. The owner was very responsive to questions. A great spot. Highly recommend.
Wonderful stay in a great, comfortable house. The morning sunrise from the back deck was beautiful. The house was convenient to restaurants in Front Royal, hiking in Sky Meadows and Shenandoah River State Park and the northernmost entrance of Skyline Drive. The gravel road to the house was steeper than expected, but not a problem with AWD. Would definitely stay again next time we're in the area.
The pictures are very accurate! It was a nice little retreat for us ladies. The hot tub worked great! The house is very nicely updated. The property manager was very responsive. Would highly recommend!
Cabin is stocked with everything you need and more.
Spacious. Outdoor area is superb. Hot tub was perfect.
Beds weren’t very comfortable but we were so tired from hiking we quickly didn’t notice.
Would definitely stay again and have recommended to multiple friends already.
My friend and I met at this property halfway in between our homes for a long weekend. It was remote, extremely clean and close to so many options for hiking, shopping, wineries and eateries. The host was fantastic with an early check in and helpful suggestions for places to go and things to do. The deck is full sun, so if going in the winter, you will have to wait until early evening, but its so peaceful!
We wanted a quick and easy weekend getaway and this house was perfect. Hot tub, firepit, gas and charcoal grill, location near trailhead. The kitchen had all the amenities we needed for making meals. The coffee was a nice touch. The owner was very responsive and had great recommendations for nearby wineries & sites.

Great Getaway House and Location
Stayed in Chester Gap with family, two couples and one adult child. The AT is a short walk from the house, and wineries are very close. We went tubing on the Shenandoah River. The host was very good about reaching out before our arrival, and the house was clean and ready for us. The layout was perfect and allowed us to spread out and relax. The deck and hot tub were perfect. We all agreed this was the perfect spot to get together.
This place is wonderful. The hot tub, wood burning stove, fire pits are all just as stated and shown in pictures. Everything is clean. Beds are comfy and kitchen is well stocked. Bathrooms are updated. Master Bath is beautiful. The location is great for winery tours and hiking. If you enjoy shopping or nightlife, this would not be a good choice. We thought it was heaven. Just a warning that if you are older or have mobility issues, the stairs are narrow and all bedrooms are upstairs. We didn’t have any issues but it’s an older home so the stairs could be a challenge for some. Also, try to arrive before dark, especially if it’s rainy or foggy. It can be a challenge to find in a dark rainy night. Waze took us right to it but the turn into the driveway is easy to miss under those conditions. We would definitely stay here again.

Not completely as advertised
We stayed at this property over a three day weekend and our adult daughter was with us. We had no trouble finding the house using GPS and we were anxious to get inside and check it out after 8 hours on the road. The front and back yards were overgrown with grass and the shrubs needed trimming but there had been a lot of rain so we overlooked that. The inside was well appointed and was very clean. The kitchen has newish appliances that worked well and the beds were very comfortable with nice linens. The bathrooms were clean and very attractive. We rented this place specifically for the hot-tub and it was totally unusable. There was a scum on the top of the water and a noticeable dark ring around the sides. I called the rental agency to report this but was told we needed to work with the owner. I texted the owner and never heard back from him. We didn’t want any money back, we just wanted the hot-tub serviced so we could use it. The office area across the breezeway was operated by an electric lock but the batteries were dead so it was inaccessible. Several other remotes for fans, etc. had dead batteries. They advertised lots of games and outdoor toys that were not there and fresh coffee beans and a bowl of snacks ( small touches for their guest comfort) that were not there. This place was clean and comfortable but needs some TLC to make it a great rental.
