"Great location for walking. Walk the falls of the river, the large parks or downtown. Daily free cocktails and food. Nice breakfast included. Very curious and friendly staff. Got the room with a balcony overlooking the river and it was well worth the extra money"
"Only had one agent to checkin…. Line was almost out the door. Finally a 2nd agent came in….. we had to fix the toilet in our room!! Also was not provided enough towels . Our reservation was for 3 and only had linens provided for one!! When the front desk was contacted we were told housekeeping was not in yet (a 45 minute wait!) unacceptable to us as we were planning to be out the door before then! I asked if maintenance or someone other than housekeeping could provide the towels….which is what happened but the front desk did not offer that upfront!! Just little things that added up to to make my stay disappointing!! Went and stayed at a different hotel 2nd night that was nearby and will choose it over the Centennial in the future."
Steam Plant Hotel Spokane, an Ascend Collection Hotel
6/10 Okay
"I wanted to love this hotel because it was so cute, but we had a lot of inconveniences. First of all, our room had a cat pee smell that we could hardly stand. We tried to turn the heat on because the room was very cold, but it had a burning smell, so we left it off. The remote for the TV didn’t work so we had to watch one channel. We woke up a couple times to people being loud outside our room. We were only there for around 10 hours, so we didn’t complain. The train noise didn’t bother us. The staff was really friendly and I liked chatting with them. "
"I wish I could give this less than one star. The room had a weird odor. The microwave had scorched food previously. The "onsite breakfast" is a coupon to walk over to Denny's. The ice machine didn't work. The road noise (interstate) was awful. The pool was slimy and the toilet clogged. There were no other rooms available so we had to change hotels due to the toilet issue. This happened at about 4pm. They refused to refund that night (we were supposed to stay another 2 and they did refund the final night). Oh, and the housekeeper referred to me with an expletive in front of my minor child. Also, the name and photos are misleading. This property was a Super 8 that was split in two (the other half is still Super 8 and right next door). Do not book a stay here, if at all possible. The only bright spot was the Front Desk Manager, Samantha, who was cheerful and helpful, despite the uphill battle of having to represent such a subpar property."
"This 1960s hotel has been renovated nicely and the rooms were much nicer than you'd expect. It does not have interior hallways but it still felt safe. The close parking is a bit limited but they do have additional parking around the corner. The price seemed reasonable although you do get charged for parking and an 'entertainment fee' for a lounge attached where you can get a couple drinks (beer or wine or mocktail) for the ten or so dollars they charge with this fee. A complimentary breakfast is included and you can upgrade for a few more dollars. The staff were very friendly. I expected more road noise but it wasn't bad at all. Recommended!"
"I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was nice and quaint. The staff were attentive and welcoming. We loved the restaurant that was o the bottom floor of the hotel called the Gilded Unicorn. The food was amazing, we had dinner there three nights in a row. "
