"This hotel is in a great location in central Marly close to Fribourg. It's a simple bus ride into Fribourg, where there is lots to see and do. The room is not air-conditioned, but not many places in Switzerland are. The hotel downstairs is spotless and delicious, and the staff are all very friendly. I'd recommend this hotel for travelers who want to see Fribourg but get a taste of Swiss village life---great point from which to bike around the countryside as well!"

"This is a cosy hotel located in the city centre. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated. The restaurant on the ground floor was quite busy when we arrived on Saturday night. I expect it to be popular based on the reviews. There are plenty of street parking spots in the area, but it might take a while to find one during busy times. We stayed there only one night, but we'll book again if we return to the area. "

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Chénens?
The best area to stay in Chénens is directly within the village centre itself, as it's a small, rural community.

Chénens is a charming, compact village located in the Canton of Fribourg, characterised by its traditional Swiss architecture and peaceful surroundings. The main road, Route de Chénens, runs through the heart of the village, where you'll find the local church and a few essential services. It's a place where life moves at a slower pace, offering a genuine taste of Swiss countryside living.

For couples seeking a quiet retreat, Chénens is an excellent choice. You can enjoy strolls through the village and the surrounding fields, taking in the views of the pre-Alps. It's an ideal base for exploring the wider Fribourg region, with easy drives to places like the medieval town of Gruyères or the city of Fribourg, known for its Gothic cathedral and old town.

Solo travellers looking for a tranquil escape will also appreciate Chénens. The village offers a relaxing environment, great for unwinding and enjoying nature.
When is the best time to go to Chénens?
The best time to visit Chénens is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is warm and ideal for outdoor activities.

During this period, the countryside surrounding Chénens is at its most inviting, with lush green landscapes and comfortable temperatures great for walking, cycling, or simply enjoying the tranquil rural setting. Days are long, providing ample time for exploration and relaxation. For travellers who appreciate being outdoors, this is when the region truly shines.

Spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) also offer pleasant conditions for a visit, with fewer crowds and beautiful scenery as the seasons change. Spring brings blooming wildflowers, while autumn offers colourful foliage across the Fribourg countryside. These shoulder seasons can be particularly appealing for couples looking for a quieter, more romantic escape.

Winter (November to March) in Chénens is cold, with potential for snow, making it a good choice for those interested in winter sports or a cosy, peaceful retreat.
