Depending on where you’re coming from, your flight to Saint-Romans could be as easy as pie or it could drag on forever. We've compiled some useful travel tips that will help you start your next unforgettable escape on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:

• First things first, pack in your passport, official ID, credit cards and vital medications. Next, you'll want some in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy novel and a laptop filled with your favourite movies are some fantastic options. If you hope to take a quick nap, a neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also be useful. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some deodorant so you'll hop off the plane looking fresh and ready to go.

Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:

• Double-check that you don't have sharp objects (like a pocket knife) lurking in the bottom of your hand luggage. Other restricted items include explosive or flammable substances, such as fuel and fireworks, and gels and liquids in containers with a capacity of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).

What to wear on a flight:

• Your top priority is to feel as comfortable as you can. Choose a pair of slip-on shoes, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to take a pullover in case it gets chilly in the cabin.
• Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.

The trick is to be prepared before you reach airport security. That way, you'll be boarding that plane to Saint-Romans in the blink of an eye. Follow these tips and get your trip off to a flying start:

• Have your boarding pass and ID at hand. They're the first things you'll be asked to present to airport security.
• The X-ray machine comes next. Remove anything on you that is likely to set off the scanner's alarm. This includes things like headphones or earphones, as well as your coat or jacket. They'll all need to go on the X-ray conveyor belt.
• For just a few minutes, you'll have to unplug from the digital world. Your laptop, phone and any other electronic gadgets will need to be sent through the scanner.
• Travelling with a new cologne or perfume? As long as the volume is no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) and it's stored in a clear zip-lock bag, it's fine to bring with you in your carry-on bag.
• There's a chance you'll be required to remove your shoes for scanning, so wearing lightweight sneakers is always a clever idea.
• Avoid taking prohibited items in your carry-on bag. If you have any sharp or pointed objects, put them in your checked luggage. They won't be allowed on board and will be confiscated.
