Flying to Eindhoven

Eindhoven Airport is located in the southern part of the Netherlands, not too far from the Belgian border, but much more central than Maastricht Aaken Airport.

Eindhoven airport is a small regional airport, but the biggest of its kind in the Netherlands. This means it’s very quick to get trough. It is also mainly serviced by budget airlines, because of the lower airport related costs than at Amsterdam Schiphol. This means it’s a cheap place to fly to and from.

Eindhoven is famous for its design, architecture and industries. Did you know Philips originated in Eindhoven? The city has a very industrial vibe, totally different from Amsterdam. Eindhoven has great connections to other cities and it is a lot faster to get to certain cities from Eindhoven Airport, than it is from Schiphol. But if you take the train you’ll be in Amsterdam in no time, as well.

What to Do in Eindhoven

Eindhoven has a lot to offer for visitors. Go shopping in the city centre, get a drink in the longest street of cafés of the Netherlands or spend some time watching planes take off from the panorama deck at the airport.

If architecture floats your boat, the best thing to do is to take a walk through the city and admire the buildings. Make sure to visit Strijp-S, a former Philips industrial complex that is being turned into a hip cultural area. Other buildings or monuments that you cannot miss are Evoluon, Ten Hagestraat 2, 9, 11 and 13, convent Mariënhage or the main train station.
