Flights to Baltimore

With its proximity to Cork Airport, Baltimore makes perfect sense for visitors both as a weekend getaway and for longer stays. Whether you’re flight is for business, to look for a secluded romantic spot, to indulge in the marine pursuits for which the town is justifiably famous, or to take the family for an enjoyable and relaxing break, the journey is all part of the fun - quick and easy from the UK, with many well-priced deals available.

Flight Routes to and from Baltimore

Cork Airport, and by extension Baltimore, is well-served with budget flights, principally by two major carriers, Ryanair and Aer Lingus, which have regular scheduled departures from London airports Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, and airports further north in England including Liverpool, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Birmingham and Manchester.

It can also be reached without difficulty from Scotland, and a wide range of European locations, in particular from Spain, all year-round. Timings are usually very convenient as well, with many morning and afternoon flights, and from most UK airports the short hop over the Irish Sea is very quick: at under two hours you’ll barely have time to finish the newspaper.

A possible alternative route is via Dublin, offering significantly more carriers and timings. At five hours driving distance however it won’t appeal to all, although the majority of that is on motorway.

Getting to Baltimore

Baltimore’s railway station unfortunately closed back in the 1960s, making car travel the most feasible means of reaching it from the airport after your flight. Arranging car hire in advance can save time and money, and can be quickly and simply arranged through Expedia, with many excellent deals available.

Baltimore is easily accessible by road from Cork Airport. At a distance of only around 60 miles, the journey into town should take no more than 90 minutes. The road surface is generally well-kept, and the final stretch into Baltimore is a very pleasant winding drive through the hills and valleys that make up this distinctive and beautiful landscape.

When to Fly to Baltimore

Baltimore has its charms at any point in the year whether you’re here for the golf, the angling, or the diving. The summer is when the sea is, just about, warm enough for swimming, and you’ll enjoy unsurpassed views of some of the UK’s finest coastline and countryside. And during the colder months what could possibly beat curling up in front of a warm fire in your rented holiday home, or finding sanctuary in one of the area’s many outstanding pubs?

If the thought of heading out to sea in search of whales and dolphins appeals, as it does to thousands of holidaymakers on the Atlantic coast every year, then there are few better places to set off from than Baltimore, and the period September through to January tends to offer the optimum chance of catching them.

The last Sunday in May sees the annual Baltimore Seafood Festival, a feast for the senses that showcases the incredible richness and diversity in these waters. Booking early to get cheap flights and the best choice of accommodation is certainly recommended.
