Charming hotel in a very good location. The room (old section) was beautiful, with a view of the courtyard and fountain. The walls were thick and good windows prevented noise from the courtyard. Hallway noise was not an issue, due to the bedroom being through an additional door. Comfortable beds, with quality linens. Staff were welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed dinner in the hotel restaurant, and it was excellent. The server was very attentive and helpful. Breakfast was copious and good. This was by far the best hotel we stayed at on our trip, and we gladly would have booked additional nights if the trip itinerary had permitted.

Lovely property. Breakfast buffet was excellent, included in the room. I would nor recommend the on-site restaurants for more than snacks and drinks. The quality was sub-par.

We stayed three nights over Easter at Capelongue, just one day after opening for the season—and unfortunately, it showed throughout. Check-in was poorly managed. We arrived at 12:30 with a pre-confirmed early check-in, yet no one could tell us when the room would be ready. We were sent to lunch (which was good), but even at 15:10 the room was still not available. When we pointed out that Expedia listed check-in from 15:00, we were told it was actually 16:00. We were eventually given the room shortly after, but the process felt disorganised. We booked a Deluxe Terrace but were given what seemed to be one of the smallest in that category, in the older part of the hotel. No seating area as shown in photos, visible dust, and a terrace next to the parking with a loud AC unit running constantly. It’s hard not to wonder whether booking via Expedia influenced the room allocation. Service lacked consistency: pool towels not cleared or set up properly, pool water not very clean, and empty glasses left around. Basic standards were missing. On the positive side, the food was good and restaurant service attentive, and the property is visually appealing. Overall, however, the experience fell short. Would return, but not at the start of the season.

Hôtel d’Europe is a beautiful, historic property ideally located within the walls of Avignon, just steps from the Palais des Papes. The location is ideal for exploring the city, with everything easily accessible on foot. The staff truly stands out. Every interaction was warm, attentive, and welcoming, creating a level of service that elevates the entire experience. The hotel embraces its history, offering classic charm while still providing thoughtful modern comforts. While I did not dine at the Michelin-starred restaurant, having that level of dining available on-site is a great feature for guests who want that experience without leaving the hotel. The bar is excellent and was a highlight of the stay. The bartenders were engaging, skilled, and clearly take pride in what they do. The rooms are well-appointed with all the expected amenities—coffee, tea, robes, and a full range of bath essentials—making for a comfortable stay. The only drawback was a significant issue on the first night: there was no hot water, and the shower was freezing. After a long day of travel, this was not a great way to start the stay. Overall, Hôtel d’Europe delivers on service, location, and atmosphere, with one notable issue that impacted the first impression.
