"This is an excellent choice for seeing Saumur. It is in an old building with a lot of character. My room was large, with wooden beamed ceiling, tall windows that opened, and a limestone fireplace I wish I had in my home. Ensuite had shower and had plenty of space. Bed was comfortable. "This property was so comfortable, so spacious, and so beautiful that we could not believe where we were. It also had a castle in the back yard. It exceeded all of my expectations. The owner kept in touch to make sure we were happy and helped us in any way he could. I feel honored to have spent time there. Thank you."

Great location and a good 2 star hotel

"Small hotel that states 2 star but the room was clean and suitable for a short stay the breakfast was good. The hotel is within easy walking distance from the town shops and restaurants. There is parking in a church car park behind the hotel which is free after 1830 and all Sunday, there is some building works going on but this did not impact uas at all. "

"Location, location, location! Very old part of the city and some areas around are not in good shape! The apartment does not have internet but is otherwise well equipped. The view of the Loire out the front windows is lovely. Nice to watch the boats go by. If elderly with lots of luggage, this apartment is not for you! Very old narrow winding staircase to the apartment on the top floor! The proprietor is lovely and very helpful!!!"

Magnificent property, sublime location, charming host

"What a place! We enjoyed an unforgettable 10 days in this beautiful place. The position is unbeatable, overlooking the Loire, with postcard views from every window. The chateau perched above made us feel like we were living in a fairytale - we could not stop taking photos!The apartment is spread over the two top floors of a historical building, with a lift for baggage. It is full of quirks and character, with a rambling layout presenting plenty of spaces for socializing or sitting in quiet solitude. This is no bland vacation rental: every room is furnished with original features and antique objects which rivalled those we saw in the local chateaux and museums. We felt privileged to be entrusted with such exquisite surrounds.Saumur itself is delightful; a perfect size and location to enjoy the best of the Loire, with plenty of excellent restaurants within a few steps, wineries and distilleries to visit, and wonderful shopping.Our host Gilles was attentive, responsive and eager to help, with a warm delight at our appreciation of his magnificent place.For anyone seeking an authentic and refined Loire experience, we thoroughly recommend this gem."
