SOUTH BURGUNDY Country House

Location: South Burgundy, France, Europe

Accommodations: country house, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, 1 WC, Sleeps 1-10 (10 if there are 2 children 4 years younger)

This 1507 sq ft. (140 m2) two floors country house is a 19th Century cottage built in stone, recently restored (2011) and located in the south Burgundy. The house is completely surrounded by pine forests and pastures on which the typical white Charolais cattle graze. It is in fact on these gently rolling hills that the best beef in France is reared.
This immersion into the green, which offers you absolute silence and calm, gives the cottages a unic atmosphere thanks to which you can relax and enter into harmony with nature. Given the upper position of this house (this place is called Mont Chef), from the garden you can also enjoy of an extraordinary view on the medieval chapel of Chassigny sous Dun.
You can also do a lot of wonderful walks in the woods, given the many paths you can take just going out the door.

The entrance at the ground floor open onto a large double living room, in which antique furnishing and a fireplace (open on two sides) contribute to create the traditional charm of countryside. The floor is in the typical terracotta tiles and there an two antique dining tables, nine chairs, two antiques cupboards, a convertible sofa (for 2 adults), and a CD player.

The fireplace, double, heats the two parts of the living room, and thanks to a special ventilation system, it heats also the two bedrooms at the upper floor.
In the living room there are also two electtric radiators.

The kitchen is quite spacious and fully equipped. It’s fitted with a dishwasher, a gas cooktop, a refrigerator & freezer, an Italian “caffettiera”, and all of the pots, pans, and utensils you’ll need.

At the upper floor, there are two big bedrooms, each one with a double bed, an antique cupboard, and the possibility of add 2 cots (for 4 years younger children) and 2 mattress bed (Kartell design).

In front of the WC there is a washing machine.

The bathroom is spacious and features a bathtub. There are two “toilets” in red marble and an electric boiler provides hot water.
There is a radiator which allows for adjustable and efficient heating during the winter months.

Besides this living area of about 1510 sq ft., There are also some dependencies: two stables, a barn, a porch where you can park your car, and a porch where to store the woodfire.

More over, in the garden (more than 10,000 sq ft. - about 1,000 m2) there is an “atelier” in wood, an ancient water well, an orchard with two cherry trees, one pear tree and two plum trees, three walnut trees, and a lots of other plants and flowers. The garden is equipped with a table and five chairs to make it the ideal place for taking your breakfast during the warm season!

RENTAL

The first supermarket is at 5 ’by car and in the center of the village of Chauffailles (7’-10’) there are also bakers, pharmacies, the post office, some bars and restaurants, a tobacconist and a train station. Chauffailles is about 1 hour far from Lyon TGV station by train, and 45 ’far from Macon Loche TGV by car.

Our cottage is in a very strategic position because from here you can visit in less than 1 hour by car many wonderful sites: castels, roman churches, lakes, botanic gardens ...
The JARDINGUE, for instance, a very nice place where you can drink, eat or enjoy of a wonderful botanic garden, is 5 far by car or 15 far by walking.

20 ’far from Mont Chef there is also LA CLAYETTE, dominated by a magnificent châteaux surrounded by a lake, right in the center of the town. There is a vintage car museum in part of the castle, and the tourist office is at the entrance. At 32 Rue Centrale you will find chef Bernard Dufoux. He is the master of chocolate, and specializes particularly in truffles and cream fillings. The delicious smell is quite intoxicating, and the chocolates are to die for.

Other famous historical places you can easily reach are CLUNY and its abbey, PARAY LE MONIAL, with its typical Roman church and one of the great centers of Christianity, welcoming over 400,000 pilgrims every year, AUTUN with its cathedral and antique roman ruins, and the famous earthenware and crockery in CHAROLLES.

If you enjoy WALKING, you will find a lot of hiking paths and lanes. If you enjoy TENNIS you will find a court at 7 kms from Baron. If you enjoy HORSE-RIDING you will have to drive 15 kms.
If you prefer SWIMMING, instead, you can find at about 1 hour by car the Saint Point Lake and the Villerest Lake with their water activities.

Linens provided.
