For a genuine Upper Peninsula vacation, be sure to venture beyond Champion and discover the scenic and cultural treasures the region offers. Big Bay, 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the southwest, and Marquette, 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the west of Champion are also well worth checking out.
Grab some transportation and head out to Marquette, a transport and retail hub for the area, some 25 miles (40 kilometers) away from Champion. The city offers plenty of attractions, such as Presque Isle Park, Northern Michigan University and Marquette Maritime Museum. Don't rush back to Champion until you've spent a little time at Marquette's Superior Dome and Marquette Harbor Light.
If the weather looks good, head outside and discover Upper Peninsula's lighthouses.
Take a break from traveling and spend a relaxing afternoon boating or fishing. Breathe deeply and feel your worries drift away as you enjoy some of the area's more relaxing activities such as shore fishing and bird watching.
For those who plan on arriving and departing by air, take into account that the closest major airport is Sawyer International Airport, 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the east of Champion.
