It is a very small apartment, but has everything you need for a beach vacation and puts you in a walking distance from one of the sweetest beaches in Chania / Akrotiri. It is very quiet and safe, 150 m from the beach and 100 m from the mountain trail that you could explore in the mornings before it gets hot. Lera cave trail is good in the mornings until about 9 am. Amazing view of the area from there. There are also a couple of fantastic restaurants right next to the beach - Google the reviews please. The owner is super-friendly and filled our every request. It was a very nice gesture to have a good coffee and a bottle of nice local white wine in the fridge for us. Owners daughters brought us grapes one evening which was a sweet surprise.

Our stay at Vertali was made truly special by the outstanding customer service. Every member of the team was warm, welcoming, and genuinely committed to making our vacation memorable. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, we felt cared for and appreciated. A very special thank you to Kiki, whose kindness, professionalism, and positive energy stood out every single day. She consistently went above and beyond and made us feel like valued guests rather than just another room number. I’d also like to recognize the incredible breakfast team. Their friendliness and attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Exceptional service is what transforms a great hotel into an unforgettable experience, and the team at Vertali did exactly that. Thank you for making our holiday so enjoyable. We will consider back again and create beautiful memories at Ventali.

The toilet seat was broken, and we had to wait half a day for it to be fixed. The Wi-Fi was terrible, and we couldn’t get a 5G signal at all. The soundproofing in the room was awful. On our last night, a couple staying in the room above us were fighting and shouting, waking us up at 4 a.m. We informed the manager, but he was unable to resolve the situation. As a result, the noise, shouting, and arguing continued, and we weren’t able to fall back asleep. Since it was our check-out day, we asked if it was possible to extend our stay in the room. The manager said they could only extend it by one hour, which wasn’t helpful. In the end, our entire day before the flight was ruined because we were exhausted from the lack of sleep. A few more downsides: It takes more than an hour to get to Chania from the hotel, and the bus is usually overcrowded. There are no shops nearby. On the positive side, the area is very peaceful, the beach is within walking distance, and the food offers a good variety to suit different tastes. Other than that, it’s pretty much the same as any standard all-inclusive hotel.

I arrived on a Saturday evening, told there was an electrical issue with my room and needed to move me to their sister hotel, 20 minute taxi ride away (& further away from chania), having looked at the map, & seeing how far it was, nothing much around it, I told them it wasn’t acceptable, that I had booked the hotel in October (staying June), and I booked that hotel due to the location on the main road and I could head out at night on my own and feel safe! They ‘found’ me a room, 312, which was at the top of the stairs, near the lift & over reception entrance so would hear all the noise, it wasn’t the room I booked, it was a basic room & I booked & paid for deluxe, I came back to reception & they moved me to room 405, much better and the room I had booked, bigger and brighter! So from having no rooms, to having 2 rooms!! I do feel as a solo traveller they thought they could do that to me!! The hotel is nice, reviews about the food are a bit harsh, I’m a bad eater & always managed to eat, the serving dishes were small which meant they run out, but meant it was topped up regularly with fresh food, the flavours of the food were nice & good variety, negative was that it wasn’t always hot, so found myself eating quickly, could have done with a microwave like a lot of Spanish places do. Even if all inc, I recommend dinner at MISTOS across the road for sunset, but you need to book, great views, food and staff! Also Hugsy’s for an after dinner drink!
