In Arizona’s Petrified Forest National Park, hike through an otherworldly landscape filled with cone-shaped hills banded with brilliant colors.
Despite its name, expect to see more geologic marvels than standing trees along this easy loop trail in Petrified Forest National Park.
Inspect petroglyphs and examine the remains of a 100-room Ancestral Puebloan settlement that was abandoned sometime around the 14th century.
Located just inside the park’s northern entrance, this observation point has excellent vistas of the multicolored topography of the Painted Desert.
You can learn about the history of Chambers when you stop by Lacey Point. Wander the forests or discover the area's desert landscape.
Camels, a seasonal river and a 19th-century expedition are part of the rich history of a viewpoint above a Martian-looking landscape.
