Kaohsiung’s Central Park is a rural area in the centre of the citywith many picturesque features and intriguing complexes. The library, thelabyrinth and the vast lake are the most prominent attractions in this park, attractingjoggers, dog-walkers and strolling couples. Escape the hectic bustle of citylife for an afternoon in this serene park. Take a romantic promenade with your partner along the shores ofthe lake. Waltz along a path that is lined by swaying palm trees. It shouldtake between 10 to 20 minutes to traverse the length of the park. Sit with yourfamily on the grass and revel in the extraordinary views of green hills, woodenbridges and water features. Watch local residents concentrating on a fierce game of chess inSpeech Square. Take the kids to the maze to see if they can find their way outon their own. Visit the accompanying playground that will keep children busyfor hours. Capture photos of the lake, its bridges and a small island witha backdrop of Kaohsiung’s skyscrapers in the distance, as a reminder of thecity’s presence beyond the rural environment. Watch 20-minute-long water dancesthat are performed regularly throughout the day. This large green space was constructed as part of a plan to givefresh air to the industrial city of Kaohsiung. Its central position in the citymeans it is near restaurants and shops. The park is located just east of Love River in the heart ofKaohsiung. Take the Red Line of the metro system to Central Park Station. Thestation is just a short walk away from the park. Central Park’s underground train station is an attraction initself due to its Space Age design and sunflower-shaped pinwheels.
