This is a perfect place for a peaceful getaway! The swing bed on the porch is great for afternoon napping. The island is very serene with beautiful views both at sunrise and sunset. The cottage is clean and well equipped. I would definitely stay there again!
This was an ideal getaway: cottage was lovely, beautiful scenery, beach, and sunsets. So peaceful and like a lot of other reviewers, we loved the swinging bed on the porch for naps, reading and just listening to the birds and the ocean and wind. Feel rejuvenated. Very responsive host.
This Cedar Island cottage was just what we needed to get away from it all. Clean, quiet, cozy and well appointed, a perfect escape from crowded beach towns.
Wonderful lodging for the traveler who wants a quiet and scenic location. Cottage is remote with a scenic drive to reach. Short walk to a quiet wide-open beach. Enjoyed evenings on a lovely large screened in porch. Easy private parking. Interior was comfortable and clean. Outdoor shower was great when returning from beach. Tiny kitchen but has all one needs to cook.
The house was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet, private and clean. Also very close to beach access (also quiet). We definitely plan on coming back!!
We stayed at the cottage this MLK weekend, and it was just perfect! The cottage was just right for our family of 4. It was clean and well appointed with all the comforts of home. Check in/out was a breeze, and we immediately settled in and enjoyed our vacation.
This was our third time at this cottage; while Cedar Island is somewhat remote (it's a gorgeous hour-long ride into the main towns), it is a terrific central base for a wide range of day trips. Ocracoke ferry station is at end of street, making for an amazing ride, lunch, beach trip, and walk around the historic village. Tryon Palace is an easy drive on a cloudy day that isn't good for the beach. Cape Lookout is a marvelous trip for shelling and solitude. Beaufort has wonderful restaurants and boat rentals, along with excursion boats. Emerald Isle beaches are excellent. On Cedar Isle itself, there are wild ponies and cows to be seen on the long walkable beach. This is a great location for a couple looking for privacy and a week-long getaway.
We loved Heather's cottage, it was clean and just as advertised. Our favorites were watching the sunset on the porch, taking walks in the beach and horseback riding just down the road.
Highly recommend, if we ever get a chance to go back to NC this cottage will be the place we'll book for sure!
10/10 stars! We had a very memorable experience here! The location is a true oasis - so bring ample groceries to last your stay. The cottage is clean, updated, and very comfortable. We are already plotting our next visit.
The home is beautiful. Location is amazing. I would recommend A LOT of bug spray. The misquotes are the size of your hand and everywhere. If you are looking for a quite vacation this place is perfect
Exactly what we were looking for! Secluded and serene. Quick walk to the beach or ferry. Cant wait to go back! Heather was communicative and timely! We had absolutely no issues. Place was clean and welcoming. Perfect home away from home
My husband and I, and our 19 year old son, had a wonderful and peaceful stay at the cottage. If you're looking for relaxation and quiet, this is the place 😊
We spent a day at the sound, which was awesome, and took day trips to Ocracoke and Atlantic Beach. We would definitely visit the "Pumpkin Cottage" again in the future.
Perfect location of cottage to get away for a relaxing break. Quiet. Peaceful. Isolated.
Views of water, beautiful sunsets and sounds of wildlife at nighttime. The screened in porch is perfect for relaxation. The cottage is very pretty!
My fiancé and I stayed at this cottage for 6 days, and we did not want to leave!! It was SO private and relaxing, which we both needed! We slept on the porch bed all night, only hearing the wind chime, and feeling the breeze! We had the beach to ourselves every time we went out! So many memories made. Thank you!!
Born and raised in NC, I have never been to this area of our state. It is beautiful - stunning. Not having any true commercialization eliminated the standard tourist noise. The house was lovely. It has a very very small kitchen so plan accordingly. The views were spectacular. Our only regret is not being able to bring our family dog. That amenity becomes a showstopper for us most of the time.
What a beautiful cottage. We were seeking a break from the fast pace of life and we surely found it. The property was perfectly kept, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The screened in back porch was our favorite place to watch the sunset over the sound each evening. Beautiful stars at night in the huge, beautiful sky. We would not have changed a thing. Just marvelous.
Every detail is in place for a relaxing vacation in this sweet cottage. The location is private and quiet, the screened in porch is instantly relaxing. I spent 2 nights alone and (3) friends/family joined me for the rest of the week. Four adults is a good limit for the space available. We all agreed that the porch alone, with its hanging bed, comfy chairs, and west-facing scenery was worth the trip. Also-2 thumbs up for the outdoor shower and shaded table and chairs under the porch.
A couple of us mostly spent time relaxing in and around the house; a couple of us spent time on the pretty beaches. Bird watchers will love Cedar Island, as will horse lovers. We took advantage of horseback riding along the beach as well as using the owners' kayaks for an early morning paddle in the the sound. Compared to the crowds along the Outer Banks, Cedar Island really is a hidden gem.
Our stay was wonderful! Everything in the house is as pictured, no surprises. It was very comfortable for the two of us. The beds and furniture were comfortable. Some tips that others might find helpful…we had very high winds for a few days and you could feel the house swaying while you’re laying in bed. I learned through a quick google search that this is completely normal for a beach house on stilts. Just a little scary if you’ve never experienced that before! This is an isolated area, not much around nor many people around if you’re here during the week (at least after Labor Day). Perfect if that’s what you’re looking for, a little lonely feeling if you like seeing other humans on your vacation. The house does not have a blender, so no frozen margaritas for us :( But it was very well stocked with everything else we needed. We couldn’t find any directions for the TV, but we think it is all just streaming channels through the internet. The movies would sometimes cut in and out due to weak internet connection, but it was doable. It’s good to take a vacation from television anyway, and if you bring a good book you won’t miss it at all. We thoroughly enjoyed the screened porch with the rocking chairs and swinging bed! Dinner on the porch watching the sunsets (and sometimes the storm clouds) were awesome 💙💙💙 K & J
