Great location!
My husband and I recently visited from Tulsa, OK. The Pine Cone Inn is an excellent getaway that is perfectly located close to Albuquerque, Madrid and Sante Fe. Convenient stores and restaurants are within 4 miles. Nestled in the mountain with hiking trails right outside your door. This location has everything you need including robes, games, and extra blankets. Brad provided several locations for the amenities in the area. We enjoyed the hot tub and outdoor patio after long days of site seeing and hiking. I would highly recommend The Pine Cone Inn for your next trip!

Better than we could’ve imagined!
We had a fabulous stay at Pine Cone Inn! We loved being in the mountains and away from the city but an easy /2 hour drive to Albuquerque and an hour to Santa Fe. Brad is the best host we’ve ever had (and we’ve used vacation rentals for 18 years). He is so kind and helpful even giving suggestions for groceries and nearby restaurants. Brad and Rick live upstairs on the back side of the house, not something I would usually book, but they’re very quiet and respectful of privacy. It’s so quiet and peaceful and the cabin is cute, cozy and spotless. It has high-quality bed linens and towels and everything you need for a comfortable stay. The lovely outdoor patio was our favorite spot for morning coffee and afternoon R&R. We didn’t want to leave! We would stay again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Brad, for everything! (Additional FYIs…there are horses on the property. Yes, sometimes you can smell them. The hot tub is on the owners side of the house. Neither bothered us but good things to know.)

Pine Cone Inn
The day before check-in Brad reached out with all the information we needed and answered all our questions right away! GPS took us straight to the cabin no problem ☺️ Upon arriving the cabin was all lit up for us, beautiful, and it was cozy warm and ready for relaxing. 📆My husband and I take a week to get away from all the at home distractions so we can put together our business plan for the next 2 years! 🏡 the cabin is perfect size, the owner does live upstairs but his presence was barely noticeable, and all the windows gave a feel of first floor living. 🥰 I loved all the heavy cozy and fuzzy blankets throughout the cabin, and the water pressure in the shower is perfect! 🐴 There are friendly horses on site which just put icing on this wonderful adventure! 😀 we would absolutely recommend you stay here and if we are ever in the area again we’d be happy to return to Pine Cone Inn!

winter time stay in NM
It was warm with the cozy fire going. What a nice thing "to come home to" when it was quite chilly out. And the last day with the covering of snow made it seem enchanted! How thoughtful of Brad to order up some snow before we headed home to SE Texas!! The main bedroom was very comfortable. The king size bed was just the thing we needed!! Brad is always responsive to any concerns we might have. Wish I could actually meet him sometime. He seems like such a delightful person.

MOUNTAINSIDE RETREAT
This well kept rental is a gem at the base of Sandia Peak. As long as you don’t mind having upstairs neighbors (separate entry living space) and are keen on a commute into the city, this is the spot for you to relax and unwind with nature steps away. The king size bed is exceedingly comfortable and the hosts spared no expense providing premium linens. Plenty of space to stretch out and the covered outdoor area made this rental seem especially spacious. We grilled steaks on the fancy grill and loved the cute indoor oven as well. This would be the perfect place for a family of four to stay for a ski vacation if the mountain has plenty of snow.

Overall a pleasant experience. I would certainly consider staying at the property again. Pluses include the outside, covered seating area, large bedroom with sitting area, dining area and living area. The kitchen and bathroom are small but adequate for my wife and me. Unfortunately the hot tub was not working. We enjoyed our stay and felt the pluses significantly out weighed any minuses.

Cozy and Wonderful Stay
We arrived after dark and Brad had all of the lights on and the fireplace running for us. We felt so welcome when we arrived. Communication with Brad was excellent and responsive and the location was just remote enough for us. The place was so cozy with a soft fuzzy throw within arm’s reach of every seating area. The beds were comfortable and all of the little things were anticipated: extension cords to plug into without having to search for outlets, kitchen fully stocked with all of the conveniences and an extra freezer/refrigerator in the back space. The kitchenette is small but so well outfitted and perfect for our stay. My sister and I booked this for a little getaway and we will be back for sure! Thank you Brad for a wonderful stay. Debby

The location was beautiful. Feel like your in the mountains but close to town all ar the same time. The owners live upstairs, which we didnt realize untill we got there, but they are friendly and accommodating and the area where the guest stays is completly self sufficient with its own entrance. Inside it was clean, no weird smells or stains, and the way they decorated was so cute you feel like your in a wood cabin. The tvs are a little dated so i couldn't stream from my phone and they only had apple tv which was ok because i have Amazon prime video and Hulu but if you don't have an account with something on there you won't be able to watch tv. They did have a blue ray player in the living room but not the bedroom. Overall it was an enjoyable stay and could see myself coming back and will be referring friends and family.

Excellent mountain getaway!
My husband and I were looking for a spot to enjoy the mountains while we were visiting family in NM. This spot was perfect! It's right against the national forest, so you are steps away from great hiking. This was great for us as we were still working, but wanted to take a hike every evening after work. You're close to Madrid (a fun little eccentric town) and great places to eat are only a 5 to 10 minute drive. You're also a 20 to 30 minute drive from ABQ. Brad was excellent and very responsive to any of our requests and questions. Would 100 percent stay again!

Our visit to the Sandia Crest area was very nice. Everything we needed was provided and the basement apartment was very clean. We were a little surprised that the owners were living above and that our apartment was actually a basement and the hot tub was located right out their living area not ours. The pictures on the VRBO website were a little deceiving. When I booked the front door pictured is actually their front door. It looked like the hot tub would be out our back door, it was their back door/living area. Brad was very welcoming and provided good information about the area. Over all our visit was good.

My family and I decided to get away from the city and luckily we found this gem in Sandia Crest. The house itself is beautiful, as was the view. When we first arrive Brad was extremely helpful giving us information on some of the attractions nearby, and also checking to see if we needed anything to make our stay even better than it already was. Cozy Apartment
We spent the last week of our vacation in New Mexico at the Pine Cone Inn. We loved it! It was a beautiful relaxing place to sip coffee in the morning looking out the window and into the woods. We spent our days exploring the area, Henderson Store, Madrid, Sandia Tramway, Cerillos and driving through the mountains enjoying the scenary. Evenings were spent playing cards and sitting by the fire. Our host, Brad, was responsive, kind and fun to chat with. We definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for the perfect place to relax after a long day.

Didn't want to leave
I stayed at Pine Cone Inn for over a week. I didn't want to leave, the owners almost had to drag me away. This location is fantastic for a getaway. I visited Pine Cone alone and Brad and Rick were perfect hosts, checking in just enough to be sure I was safe and sound. Brad took me on a hike one of my first days which was wonderful because I would have never found it on my own but these trails join other marked trails that will give you breathtaking views North, West and South to Albuquerque. I took many drives up the14 Turquoise Trail to Santa Fe. The drive itself is beautiful and the old towns on this old trading road are fun. Rick, one of my hosts, suggested Henderson's in Golden on the 14 for Native American jewelry and other handmade items. The selection and pricing was a goldmine find. I did most of my Christmas shopping there. Further north is Madrid. Be sure to stop at Java Junction for coffee. I stopped there 4 times during my week and 3 different baristas made consistently delicious coffee. I had a Wagyu hamburger at The Mine Shaft Tavern which was probably one of the best hamburgers. But my favorite find was the Black Bird Saloon in Cerrillos, 5 miles north of Madrid. I only wish I had found this place the first day and not my last day. The couple who own the place and run it including the cooking were absolutely charming. I had the Wagyu pastrami sandwich on rye. They had just cut the pastrami that morning and the rye bread had to have been made on location, it was the softest rye I have ever had. They have beer and wine on tap, I enjoyed some red. The decor is saloon right down to the pot belly stove in the middle of the room. They have food options for all. The Pine Cone Inn had everything you could hope for to be comfortable. It snowed while I was there, which was stunning but I was never cold inside the premises. This is a perfect, romantic getaway for a couple or a family of 4. Brad and Rick have another location which they do not reside that is more comfortable for a party of 6. I hope to go back there for a holiday with family. If you live in Albuqerque, this is a perfect location just 20 - 25 minutes north of ABQ and if I was that close, I'd be at Pine Cone Inn at least once a month. For now, it'll be a week long retreat location for me annually. I can't wait to go back to some of the most beautiful country you'll ever experience.

BEYOND OUR EXPECTATIONS!
We loved the photos we saw of Pine Cone Inn online, but as we drove into the driveway and beheld it in person, it was even better than imagined! Our first impression was the air is so fresh and sweet, and the atmosphere is peaceful and quiet. Entering our downstairs rental unit we realized that the photos simply didn't do it justice: the place is spacious, beautifully decorated in cabin/lodge style, warm, inviting and immaculate. The small kitchen is well-appointed, and we found everything we needed for our meal preps. I was glad the bathroom had a tub, and enjoyed two soothing hot soaks in bath salts during our stay. The master bedroom is very large, with its own heating unit, a king-size bed on one end and on the other end a roomy sitting area w/TV and a massage chair. The second bedroom has 2 twin beds and it's own little gas/or electric stove for heating. Our favorite room was the living room, with its leather futon sofa & cozy easy chair w/ottoman foot rest, facing both the TV and a stone gas fireplace, which keeps the main room nice and toasty. Our hosts Brad & Rick, who live in the upper level, could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They gave us lots of privacy, but always seemed to be available if we needed anything. Adding to the homey-ness of the place are 2 sweet old horses--our hosts' beloved family pets-- who reside in a stable on the other end of the property. We will be returning to Pine Cone Inn for sure....
