About this property

The Hemlock | Pet-Friendly Fall Retreat

  • Summary:

Experience autumn in Cashiers from the Hemlock, a cozy, pet-friendly one-bedroom cabin with views of Cashiers Lake and an easy walk to local shops and restaurants. Thoughtfully restored with hand-selected antiques and vintage charm, this historic cabin makes an inviting home base for exploring colorful mountain scenery, waterfalls, and scenic drives. Spend your days discovering the beauty of the mountains before returning to a comfortable retreat with your dog.

    The Space:

The Hemlock is a cozy, thoughtfully restored 1BR/1BA cabin offering views of Cashiers Lake, historic character, and a welcoming atmosphere for couples, solo travelers, and guests bringing their dog.

Inside, you'll find a kitchen, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and the everyday essentials for a comfortable mountain stay. Antique furnishings and vintage details personally selected by Carol, who helps care for the cabins, add warmth and character to the space.

Originally a U.S. Forest Service cabin in Waynesville, the Hemlock was relocated to Cashiers Lake and renovated in 2021. Its historic roots and modern conveniences create a charming place to unwind after a day exploring the surrounding mountains.

Dogs are welcome at the Hemlock, making it a convenient home base for enjoying Cashiers and nearby mountain destinations with your four-legged companion.

    Guest Access:

You'll have the entire Hemlock cabin to yourself, along with free on-site parking.

Shared outdoor amenities include a lakeside gazebo with bench seating, communal fire pit, charcoal grill, and an outdoor sink.

The gazebo is a pleasant spot to enjoy morning coffee, relax with a book, or take in the views across Cashiers Lake.

    The Neighborhood:

The Hemlock is part of Cashiers Lake Cabins, a small historic cabin community near the heart of Cashiers. Local shops, restaurants, coffee, and other favorites are within easy walking distance.

In autumn, the surrounding mountains offer beautiful seasonal colors, scenic drives, and waterfall hikes. Nearby Highlands and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains provide even more opportunities to explore the area's natural beauty.

    Getting Around:

Free parking is available on-site. Several shops and restaurants in central Cashiers are within walking distance, but a car is recommended for exploring nearby waterfalls, hiking trails, scenic overlooks, Highlands, and other mountain destinations.

    Other Things to Note:

The Hemlock offers views of Cashiers Lake and is one of several cabins on a compact shared property. You'll have your own private cabin, but neighboring cabins are nearby and outdoor amenities are shared. The property offers lake views but does not provide direct guest access to the water.

The Hemlock is best suited to guests who appreciate historic charm, lake views, walkability, and a pet-friendly atmosphere rather than a secluded or highly private mountain retreat.

Pet policy: Dogs are welcome but must remain supervised and leashed whenever outdoors. Although the property has a gated entrance, it does not have a fully enclosed yard or designated off-leash area. Please do not allow pets to roam the shared property unattended, and review the complete pet policy and house rules before your stay.

    Interaction with Guests:

We respect your privacy, but our local team is available by message if you need anything before or during your stay.

Didn't know the lake was drained

I have seen the property several times before . I now have limited mobility & chose "lake side" property to set by the lake and watch the wildlife.

Great little cabin in a tiny community of similar cabins. Very quiet and serene, but very close to the center of Cashiers.
