About this property
Birch Cabin | Fall Lake Views | Pet-Friendly
Summary: Experience autumn in Cashiers from Birch, a pet-friendly studio cabin with views of Cashiers Lake and an easy walk to local shops and restaurants. Explore colorful mountain scenery, waterfalls, and scenic drives before returning to a cozy, thoughtfully restored cabin filled with hand-selected antiques. An inviting fall getaway for couples, solo travelers, and guests bringing their dog.
The Space: The Birch is a cozy studio cabin with a queen bed and one bathroom for up to two guests, combining views of Cashiers Lake with convenient access to the heart of town. Inside, you’ll find a queen bed, kitchen, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and the everyday essentials for a relaxed mountain stay.
The cabin began its life as a U.S. Forest Service cabin in Waynesville before being moved to Cashiers Lake and fully renovated in 2021. Its updated interior is balanced with antique furnishings and character-filled details personally selected by Carol, our decorator.
Pets are welcome at Birch, making it an easy choice for guests who want to bring their dog along while exploring Cashiers and the surrounding mountains.
Guest Access: You’ll have the entire cabin to yourself, along with free on-site parking. Outside, guests can enjoy views of Cashiers Lake and shared amenities that include a lakeside gazebo with bench seating, a communal fire pit, charcoal grill, and an outdoor sink.
The gazebo is an especially nice place to enjoy morning coffee, unwind with a book, or simply sit and take in the lake and mountain setting.
The Neighborhood: The cabin is part of Cashiers Lake Cabins, a small lake-view cabin community near the heart of Cashiers. Shops, restaurants, and local favorites are within easy walking distance. Waterfalls, hiking trails, scenic drives, Highlands, and other mountain destinations are best reached by car. In autumn, the surrounding mountains offer beautiful opportunities for leaf-peeping, scenic drives, and waterfall hikes throughout the Cashiers and Highlands area.
Getting Around: Free parking is available on-site. You can walk to several parts of central Cashiers, but a car is recommended for exploring the surrounding mountains, including waterfall hikes, scenic overlooks, Highlands, and other nearby destinations.
Other Things to Note: The Birch offers views of Cashiers Lake and is one of several cabins on a compact shared property, so while you’ll have your own private cabin, neighboring cabins are nearby and the outdoor amenities are shared.
Catch-and-release shore fishing is welcome on the private lake. It’s more about the relaxing view than the catch, and the creeks around Cashiers and Glenville offer great fishing nearby. No gear provided; please be mindful of others enjoying the view. All other water use is off limits.
The Birch is best suited to guests who value lake views, historic character, walkability, and convenient access to Cashiers rather than a secluded or highly private mountain setting.
Pets are welcome at Birch, making it an easy choice for guests who want to bring their dog along while exploring Cashiers and the surrounding mountains. Because the property and outdoor amenities are shared, dogs must remain leashed whenever they are outside the cabin.
Interaction with Guests: We respect your privacy, but our local team is available by message if you need anything before or during your stay.

Liked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Disliked: Check-in
The cabin itself was cute and clean. The location was beautiful and close to dining and shopping. The swings and outdoor furniture had not been wiped down. Large spider webs were on the swings. My biggest complaint was check-in. The code we were given was not updated so it took almost an hour before VRBO reached the owner to give us the new code to access the key.
Was in town for a wedding. Cabin was only a few minutes’ walk to venue, coffee, pub, shops, local walking trail. Two minor quibbles: plenty TP but could use a box of tissue; and the curtains seemed a bit sheer. I was not comfortable undressing even with them drawn.A nice little cabin - clean, met my needs. Cleaning fee was 99, sleep that in mind when shopping.
