He asked if we would like a table for dinner and invited us to join in with the quiz. Staff were fantastic, felt very welcome. Great food and comfy bed. The bathroom fan was quite noisy and I couldn't find a way to turn it off which was a bit annoying trying to sleep. Last time it was a brains pub but it is now a marstons. This time the rooms needed updating. The wine was not good. We tried the cheaper of the rose and white and they were disgusting. Food - where do I start, I had the "Bet Ever Pub Pie". I have to say it definitely was not. Wish I could upload a photo. Hardly any chips, one carrot and the pie was nothing special. I will not be returning to this pub. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is looking very tired and could really do with a revamp as the prices do not reflect the surroundings within the hotel. Bedroom was very comfortable, clean and great amenities. I would stay there again, really enjoyed its location, the beautiful views. Only negative was due to our stay being in February, out of season, the bar was shut at 9.30pm on a Friday night due to being very quiet. I personally think regardless of trade if you are residing in the Ship Inn that the bar should be available for usual open hours for hotel guests.
