The place is gorgeous and peaceful and the manager was very helpful and nice. Unfortunately, our room while very interesting and unique on the 2nd floor, was freezing cold (we were there in August) and smelled like a barn because of the hay roof. There is a "heater" in the room, which just blew cold air on us and made matters worse. The bathtub is beautiful and old fashioned but there's no shower, so you have to sit in the tub and shower manually. This would have all still been okay for the great price, but on our last day we were exploring the grounds and were shooed away. I had seen photos of the beautiful house and paintings on the Orbitz website, so we wanted to see them in person. They are however, on the first floor, and we were told since we were staying on the second floor, we were not allowed in that part of the house. That was a huge disappointment and off-putting seeing as we were made to feel like we were trespassing or up to no good. That ruined the stay for us unfortunately. There's plenty of potential for this to be a fantastic place--perhaps if you get a room on the first floor during a warmer time of year.
