This lovely Victorian was built in the 1880s and captures all of the exterior elegance and charm of that era. The home features a stunning wrap around porch, where you can sit and watch the horse and carriages walk by. The home has a picturesque side yard (very rare for the center of town) equipped with a Weber gas grill and seating for outdoor cookouts. The 2-car driveway offers coveted centralized parking for your stay. Additional non-metered parking can be found around the corner on Hughes Street or Columbia Avenue. Recent renovations include: freshly painted exterior, the removal of wall-to-wall carpeting and refinishing of original wood floors/stairs; freshly painted interior; new air conditioning system; renovated kitchen on the 2nd floor and thoughtfully designed kitchenette on the 1st floor; renovated eating areas on the 1st and 2nd floors; custom window treatments; and many new furnishings throughout the house. The first floor has a living room; a new kitchenette and eating area – perfect for board games and conversation; a full hall bathroom with a jacuzzi tub; and a first-floor master bedroom with a Tempurpedic king-size bed, television, and ensuite bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. The second floor has a second master bedroom with a queen-size bed and ensuite bathroom; a third bedroom with a queen bed and television; a full hall bathroom; and a beautiful kitchen and dining area overlooking historic Ocean Avenue. The final two bedrooms are located on the third floor, one with a queen size bed and the second with a twin bed. A tri-fold memory foam mattress also is available for guests to use. Nine commercial beach tags are available for guests to use during the summer season, as is a beach box on Ocean Avenue beach, stocked with 7 beach chairs (an additional chair is at the home). No carrying chairs back and forth to the beach!! There is an outdoor shower for after your days at the beach. For the security of the property and guests, there is a Ring exterior security camera on the porch with views of the front and side porch areas and doors. Sheets and towels are not provided. Guests may bring their own sheets and towels or rent through a local service. I recently spent a few days at this property, which is perfectly situated on a lovely street that is only one block to the beach and one block to the Washington Street Mall. Once I arrived and parked my car, I didn't use it again until my departure! The house had easy access with brand new keyless entry by a pin-code that was provided at check-in. The host offered a booklet with recommendations for restaurants, activities and other helpful resources that were appreciated during my stay. Everything in town is walkable: coffee shops, groceries, and amazingly fresh poke bowls near the beach. In the afternoon I was able to sit on the veranda and watch the horse drawn carriages go by every half hour or so. The house itself was a great Victorian historic home, but was renovated and upgraded with all the modern day amenities. The location of the home was perfect! In one direction, we were only a few blocks from the beach and in the other direction only a few blocks from the Washington street shopping area! All we had to do was park the car and walk to where ever we wanted to go and if you chose to venture to the lighthouse or breweries, you were only a short drive away! My family and I spent a long Memorial Day weekend at Cape May with this stunning rental as our home base. Christine was very accommodating and communicative, allowing us extra time at the home as well. The house is spectacular, very clean, a perfect blend of old and new. There is no better Cape May location than this! It is a lovely residential street...much quieter than when we stayed on Jackson Street. It's only one block to the beach and one block to the Washington Mall. The Acme grocery is two blocks away. Park your car and walk to everything. Two very convenient parking spots on the side of the house. Sit on the wraparound porch and watch the horse-drawn carriages go by every night. The owner provides lots of area information as well as beach tags for everyone. She was quick to respond to any questions we had. There is a private side yard with seating for 8-10 and a gas grill. Lots of refrigerator space for food and beverages. There is the Cape May Library across the street if you've got a rainy afternoon. We found that the layout of the house is not great for small children....steep staircases...so we recommend bringing baby gates for safety if you've got young children. The third floor does not have a bathroom, so the occupants of those two bedrooms need to come downstairs. We found the lockbox was tricky to maneuver...should probably update that with a digital keypad. Others have commented that the dishwasher is inadequate for the size of the house...bring paper plates! Also, if you have other guests visiting you while you're at the Queen's Cottage, bring a roll of quarters for the parking meters on the street. ##### Christine J.
