The cabin is quiet. It's about 30 minutes from Denali National Park. The room is clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They offer free breakfast. It has good amenity. You can have shower and do laundry there. There is microwave oven in the room so you can warm you food. I highly recommend this place if you are travelling to Denali National Park.

Don't let the outside appearance discourage you from staying at Cantwell Lodge. The rooms were clean, new, and comfortable albeit a bit tight.

We stayed in the refurbished old cabin that was absolutely adorable, memorable, and comfy!! Cynthia was really helpful and kind, which added to the charm of the place. This cabin has no bathroom, so we used the lodge bathroom (very well kept by Cynthia,) but this stay was perfect! Microwave, refrigerator, so comfy bed, and all the charm you can possibly imagine! What a pleasant surprise! The train did pass by a few times a very short distance from the cabin, but was not a major bother to us. If we come this way again, I'd stay here! This is a RUSTIC cabin, not a resort of luxury, so this setting is for those who will appreciate its charm without plush amenities, along with the scenic river view and starry night!

This place was good for spending the night when we traveled to Denali. It was only about 30 minutes from the visitor center. The cabin doesn't have running water and you have to walk to the main building for the bathrooms which wasn't a big deal. The main building is under construction so it doesn't have a lot of amenities but the owner was very helpful and provided us with water for our cabin. The only thing that wasn't good was it's right next to railroad tracks that 2 trains came by blowing their horns at 1:30am and 3:30am.

Every now and then I find a gem off the beaten path. Cantwell Cabins was fantastic. My family was greeted with a room so fresh that the painters tape still lined the door frame. Breakfast was superb with fruits and something homemade, like quiche, along with the standard breakfast cereals and yogurts. There was internet access and no TV (for us that's a strong positive). Sheets and blankets were clean. Staff was very helpful. Everything was great.

This place is better than it looks. Outside rundown but interiors were updated and cozy. The host had continental breakfast and beautiful mountain views, with stream adjacent to the property and a beautiful train track. You will hear the train at night but its not disruptive. Access to restaurants is limited and gas prices at Vitus (nearby gas station) are expensive, at least $2/gal more than average in Alaska.

Staff was helpful. Hotels.com directions to hotel were wrong. Google search for cantwell cabins got us on to the correct location. Breakfast was nice. A good combination of fresh fruit and basic breakfast options.

Virtual check in, cabin old but clean. Breakfast bar was good with coffee already premade. Liked the old time feel of these rooms (not a cabin) as it truly resembled a true Alaskan feel.

We had a great stay at Cantwell Cabin. It's a cute little cabin in a very convenient location, making it an excellent base for exploring the area. The cabin comfortably accommodated our group of four and was a perfect place to relax and sleep after a day of adventures. Cynthia was very helpful, responsive, and made the stay easy and enjoyable. The only minor inconvenience was that the restroom and shower facilities are located in the main hotel building, so you need to walk over to use them. Other than that, we had a pleasant experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for a simple, cozy place to stay in Cantwell.

The property is incomplete disrepair. The lady running the facility was very nice and apologetic but definitely is misrepresented in the pictures that were taken 20+ years ago.

We stayed in the cabin and loved it. The bathrooms are shared in the main building, but the cabin had 4 beds and was well maintained. Great experience.

The room was quite adequate. This used to be a hotel, but apparently lost its liquor license after a fire destroyed some of their cabins. What remains is in good shape, but the old bar area (now unused) is run down. Very handy to Denali. Continental breakfast was ok, esp since no other food nearby.

Serious misrepresentation, there are no cabins. These are sectioned off rooms in an old bar, we were told the liquor and food license was not transfered when the new people bought it. We were shown a room with a double bed, the bathroom was down the hall and thru the bar to be shared with other people. You can find real cabins doen the road. Avoid this place.

It was clean and comfortable. Great breakfast spread. The only thing was noise in the middle of the night. And the bathroom light fridge and microwave. Went out during the night. Think the breaker tripped.

I never ended up staying here because when I arrived, there was no one to be found no way of getting in touch with anyone. It was in the middle of nowhere very rundown and scary one little cabin to the side which I’m not even sure if someone was living in it or not the main building where there might’ve been a bar at one time was full of trash and Abandoned. This should not even be on hotels.com or any other website it has to be one of the worst places I have ever seen very scary

Property was not yet open. rooms we were shown would not have been acceptable in a homeless shelter. Restaurant & bar was not open though was advertised.. Entire place was a dump & we refused to stay there & demanded a refund.

First of all, Cynthia was very helpful. She explained everything that we needed to know and you could tell our little cabin was well cared for. When I booked this I did not realize the cabin is a dry cabin and it is in the parking lot of an old closed down bar. We did have our own bathroom inside the old bar. This is definitely not your traditional stay. I'm not saying avoid because it worked out fine for us-just be aware of what you are paying for. Also, there is an active railroad track very close and the trains do blow their horns in the middle of the night. Since we stayed in the summer and it didn't get dark, it wasn't a big deal to walk across the parking lot to use the restroom but it would be creepy during a time of year it gets dark.

Do not stay here. My room had no hot water, so showering was miserable. It also had no AC, making the room unbearably hot. When I brought this up, the owner told me to just open the door for cool air, and said they don’t have much capacity for hot water, basically admitting the problem instead of fixing it. On top of that, the booking was non-refundable, so I was stuck paying full price for a room that didn’t even have basic amenities working. Avoid.

How this place received a 8 rating is beyond me. There are no euphemisms to substitute for plain language in this case; this venue is a dump. The “front desk” was non-existent. When I arrived, I had to yell out, “is anyone here?” The main lodge looked like one big trash heap; nothing like the posted pictures. Checking the continental breakfast on our the last morning, there was a plate covered with foil with a sign card that said “quiche made fresh 7/4/26.” The problem was it was set out on 7/5 (I have photos of everything). Bottom line, if you are desperate for a place to stay inside, you can book here. Otherwise, spend the money to stay somewhere else more reputable.

Upon arrival, the property felt more like an old hostel than the hotel we expected. It's located on a sharp curve next to the railroad in what appears to be a converted saloon. The building was cluttered and didn't feel particularly welcoming, and as a single mom traveling with my son, I didn't feel comfortable staying there. Check-in was confusing because no one was at the front desk, and I had to call Expedia to reach someone on site. The staff member was friendly and showed us to our room, but the online listing was misleading. I booked a deluxe cabin with a double bed, expecting a private cabin, but instead we were given a very small room inside the main building with no window, a connecting door to the neighboring room, and paper-thin walls. The layout also raised some fire safety concerns. The bed was comfortable, but the noise made it difficult to sleep. The guests next door were loud most of the evening, there were no apparent quiet hours, and every time they opened their door it shook our shared connecting door, startling both me and my son. Around 11 p.m., an extremely loud old coffee maker started running, which was the final straw. We chose to check out after one night instead of staying for our second.
