About this property
Quiet Ocean Front Cottage With Stunning Views & Private Beach Close To Rockland
This well kept, bright and renovated little cottage is nestled 30 feet from a private cove & beach on the Atlantic ocean. It is quiet and perfect for relaxing, strolling the beach and rocks, launching your kayaks and enjoying a firepit on the oceans edge.. A 10 minute walk to the other side of the island brings you to McLoons Lobster Shack, a Maine foodie destination.
Heaven Scent has 2 floors of living area. The upstairs is a large, open room with 2 twin beds, a queen bed, 2 dressers and a chair near the windows overlooking the beach. The ceiling over the beds is just over 6' so taller people will have to stoop. The staircase is a little steep so if you are over 6’ you will have to watch your head. Bed linens and towels for 4 included as well as plenty of blankets. We provide toilet paper (2 rolls) and paper towels(2 rolls) but depending on use you may need to bring extra. The first floor hosts the bathroom, galley kitchen, dining and living area as well as an easy to use propane heater to take the chill out of the shoulder seasons. We have an electric clothes dryer for your convenience. There is also a 'game (chess, checkers, etc.) table' with 2 chairs as well as a breakfast bar with 2 stools. The first floor has decks both front and back with a slider opening to the deck facing Lobster Cove and the Atlantic ocean. There is a firepit just beyond the deck that faces the ocean. Lobster cove is a sandy/rocky beach perfect for building sandcastles, searching for treasures or just sitting in your chair watching the sunrise, waves, boats and birds go by. The cottage has a gas grill and a Weber charcoal grill as well as all the pots, pans and dishes needed for most cooking you plan to do during your stay. Coffee maker, microwave, toaster, electric stove/oven, wine glasses, coffee mugs, etc. There are books for all ages as well as several decks of cards and a few of our favorite board games. The dining room table has 2 benches and seats 6 people as well as a bar at the kitchen with 2 stools. There are 2 Adirondack chairs and a small table with two additional chairs on the deck facing the ocean. A fire pit lies between the deck and the shore. 4 portable chairs are also available in the shed and are great for sitting on the beach in front or taking with you to your favorite picnic spot. The cottage has a grass front lawn between the parking area and the cottage. The beach is perfect for launching your kayaks or taking a swim. There is a Maine lobster shack within 10 minute walk of the cottage (McCloons. If you prefer to cook them yourselves, Jess's Market is just 10 minutes away and sells lobster as well as a wide array of the freshest fish and seafood available. If your prefer a restaurant, there are dozens in nearby Rockland and its vicinity. There is parking for 2 cars and plenty of grass to play games. There is also a clothes line if you prefer to use over the dryer. We do not have a phone or TV but we have excellent Wi-Fi. If you need to do laundry, the Park St Laundry in Rockland will wash, dry and fold your clothes, just drop them off on your way into town. One month from your stay we will send you a welcome book with many more details on what the cottage has as well as information about the surrounding area, restaurants, kayak rentals, etc.

Very relaxing, quaint stay! The birds and water were all the entertainment we needed! Everything we needed to cook meals was available. Lovely place, no-hassle parking, great view and away from the crowds...perfect.
We had a wonderful, restful 5 days. I especially enjoyed watching the tides. We kayaked and rode our bikes almost 100 miles over three days in three areas. Lots of lobster, a puzzle, books and campfires. Just what we like: an active but relaxing vacation.
These hosts are to be commended. This cozy cottage is a real gem. Thoughtfully decorated and equipped with everything needed. Beautiful views, sitting by the firepit watching the wildlife, sunsets and lobster boats come and go. Very peaceful. Looking forward to returning.
This place is a great place to stay in mid-coast Maine. It’s close enough to amenities but far enough away to feel relaxing. Communication with Michael was great.
This cottage is perfect for a couple looking to get away for a few days. Sunrises are majestic and stargazing is second to to none. McCloon’s Lobster Shack is amazing and has beautiful views of the sunset.
My wife and I spent two nights here and we enjoyed our stay. We used it as a jumping off point to explore the towns of Rockland, Camden and Belfast which were all an easy drive from the cabin. We were fortunate to have great weather and the view out the back was beautiful and relaxing. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and drinking our morning coffee.
Our 4th year visiting the cottage. Very simple but all we need. Peaceful porch where we spent hours watching great blue herons and osprey (no bald eagles this year). Cove is perfect for exploring crabs, launching a kayak or SUP. We love being walking distance to McLoon’s for lobster every day and Giffords ice cream. Rainy weather this year so we played lots of “The Game of Life” and doing puzzles. Host Mike is quick to respond and makes the process very easy. Thanks for another great stay!
This is a private, compact property that was perfect for our (too) short September weekend getaway along a beautiful part of the Maine coast. I spent hours out on the back deck overlooking the tidal cove, reading, sketching, but mostly just looking and listening. Lots of wildlife, including two ospreys, a raven, a great blue heron that came twice a day to fish, and even two mink that chased each other across the beach. Cottage was very well equipped and cozy. Excellent wifi. Mike was a responsive and proactive host. We particularly enjoyed our visit to the keeper's house and museum at the Marshall Point Lighthouse in Port Clyde. Would love to return for another stay someday. Highly recommended!
This is our third year staying at Mike’s cottage “Heaven Scent” and we’ve already booked next year. The cottage is “Maine rustic” but all that we need with a darling porch for perfect Maine sunrises. Walking distance to the greatest lobsters/lobster rolls and Gifford’s ice cream. The cove is perfect for tweens exploring for sea critters, fishing, and for watching the blue heron feasting, and osprey fly-overs. The construction noise from building the house next door was annoying but should hopefully be done by next summer. It’s just enough space for me, my sister, and my 13-yo son (if she ducks her head to walk upstairs). Be aware the bathroom is on the first floor if that matters to you in the middle of the night.
Great location and beautiful view… needs updated description
Almost everything about the cottage was outstanding: view, privacy, peacefulness, cleanliness, furnishings for kitchen, WiFi, outdoor accessories…super.
Two details are overlooked in the description. First, though modern, with decent hot water, the bathroom is tiny, hard to move around in or shut door without bumping into something. Shower stall itself also quite small.
Second, the upstairs sleeping area is built for decidedly shorter folks, I’m 6’4” and had a clear disadvantage. My partner, much shorter still suffered. The stairs are steep and tall folks must duck (both clearly advertised). Going downstairs was uniquely more hazardous, owing to a very close/steep roof over stairwell, especially the top 3-4 steps. What is not highlighted is the low ceiling and its sloping pitch in the entire upstairs bedroom. I could not stand straight up in the middle of the room, and on the twin bed side of the room the ceiling was so low as to make using them difficult. On the double bed side (with the windows) the roof sloped less but was still only about 5’ at the headboard. All in all, too cramped and tight for us. This may not be bad, but should be better highlighted in the description.
We’ve stayed at many places in Maine, but this one was by far our favorite. The location is amazing. The cottage itself is adorable and so perfect. We can’t wait to book our next day next year!
Peaceful snd absolutely stunning views right from the deck. At low tide there is so much to explore. You can kayak right from the cottage and ride bikes, short walk to incredible food. Breathtaking and relaxing. We will recommend highly and stay again.
