Adults-only holiday home in Buxton
Swallow Barn stylish little converted barn which combines stone walls and oak beams with contemporary style - the perfect mix of old and new. Situated in a quiet village right in the middle of the Peak District National Park the property enjoys a south facing private patio for sitting out. With an open-plan layout, French windows open into the light and airy kitchen dining/lounge area, with a beamed ceiling which goes up to the rafters, wooden floor and comfortable seating. One corner is occupied by a well-equipped modern kitchen. An archway leads into the bedroom, with comfortable double bed and en-suite shower room. The accommodation is all on one level and offers everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Facilities include a fully equipped kitchen, TV, CD & DVD player, ipod dock, free wifi, secure cycle storage, lots of maps, brochures and books on places to visit. A well-behaved pet is welcome. Set in the conservation village of Chelmorton, 6 miles from Buxton and 8 miles from Bakewell, there are walks from the door and beautiful countryside to explore in every direction, plus a traditional village pub (which welcomes dogs) serving good food. The historic houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall are easy to reach as is the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. There are superb traffic-free cycle trails nearby, along former railway lines. In the summer lots of festivals and events take place - including the fabulous Eroica Britannia vintage cycle festival in June, Chatsworth Horse Trials in May, RHS Chatsworth Flower show in June, the Country Fair in September and well dressings from May to September. Bakewell Farmers Market (8miles) is the last Saturday of every month and is the second largest in the country.
