Aquatic pursuits, scenic walks and marine and terrestrial wildlife make this Western Australia coastal area an attractive and exciting place to visit.

With pure white sands, turquoise waters and limestone cliffs, Bunker Bay is a beautiful part of Western Australia. Come here for coastal walks with exceptional ocean views and to swim, snorkel and surf.

Unwind on the curving 2.3-kilometre (1.4-mile) long sandy beach. For a lot of the time, the water is calm and the waves are small. These are ideal swimming conditions for novice swimmers and families with young children. When the wind whips up, the beach attracts a number of surfers.

Go for a stroll along the coastline and walk over the low granite headland of Bunker Point, situated at the northern end of the beach. This will take you to Shelley Cove, a small beach about 70 metres (230 feet) in length that sits below a limestone cliff. Snorkel among the rocks that dot the water.

From the cove, pick up some of the walking trails that pass through Cape Naturaliste. There are tracks that lead to the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse and to lookouts from where you may be able to see New Zealand fur seals and migrating whales.

Enjoy additional attractive walks at Meelup Regional Park, about 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) from Bunker Bay. Numerous trails pass through swathes of the reserve's natural bush land. During your ramblings, see if you can spot some of the local wildlife, including western ringtail possums and hooded plovers.

When you are back in the Bunker Bay area, pamper yourself with a massage treatment at Pullman Resort Bunker Bay’s spa facility. It is open to the general public as well as to guests of this upscale beachfront resort. There is also a restaurant serving modern Australian and international cuisine. Dine on the terrace with views of the Indian Ocean.

Bunker Bay is approximately 13 kilometres (8 miles) from the town of Dunsborough. From there, it's an easy drive north along Cape Naturaliste Road to the bay.
