The host is very nice and allowed us to check in early. She came to personally welcome us to the house. She also had fresh flowers and a fruit bowl. She gave a personal tour of the home and came back to visit the next day. The house is very large and can accommodate many people. It seems to be used as a meeting space too, so the common rooms are huge. The front room and living area reminded us of a church hall or visitation area. It is well stocked and had plenty of extra towels and bedding. We had an AC issue the first day and the co-host tried to fix it. We also had an isssue getting the water hot in some areas. The river view from the house is amazing, but it is not accessible directly from the house. There is another home directly beside this one on the top of the hill, where the co-host lives. We brought our own kayaks and enjoyed floating the river from Bent Creek (about 30 minutes away) to the James River State Park. We had a large group of peiple, so the house met our needs. We also enjoyed lunch at the Tavern on the James (30 min away) and cupcakes from the shop next door to the Tavern. Gas and groceries are about 30 minutes away too, so make sure you take what you need. ##### Christy S. We enjoyed the sprawling home & huge patio overlooking the James River. The remote location did come with some 8-legged guests.
