20th wedding anniversary treat for my wife and myself, lovely peaceful location, sat in the upper garden with champagne till 22.30 admiring the view. 3 minute walk to national Trust Dyrham park house, fantastic views from the viewing point at top of the hill in the park, Food at the Bull pub was lovely.

Fantastic host, amazing location
We had an anazing stay in this very stulish property. The host was brilliant and we loved the little terrace, the location and the fire. It was truly wonderful!

Excellent short stay
The lodge was in a spectacular setting and was even better than as portrayed in the photos. The lodge may not be large but it is so well appointed, all is top quality and it has absolutely everything you need, plus more. The owners have thought of everything! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Dyrham Park gatehouse
Brilliant experience and a great location for exploring the Cotswolds. Cosy building, well fitted out, good decor, comfortable furniture, decent kitchen, very useful additional fridge and freezer unit in separate heated shed adjacent to the gatehouse (also has plenty of storage for boots and wet clothes). Property owner was very easy to deal with. Very easy to walk to the nearest pub in Hinton (albeit a hilly one)!

Last Minute Break
We had tickets to visit Berkeley Castle and so decided to find somewhere to stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. So glad we found this little gem. Beautiful little gatehouse lodge. Still has the toll window where tolls were paid through. Beautifully restored. Clean and well equipped. Parking for 2 cars. Secure outside storage for bikes etc. So quiet. We spent warm evenings sitting on the patio. Plenty of walks, which we did. Cotswold Way nearby. If you need pub/cafe/restaurant there is one up the hill but we were happy in the garden and lodge. Owner came to check we were ok. They supplied a lovely breakfast pack, cereals, milk, croissants tea and coffee. If you want to watch TV there is one. Very comfortable bed and underfloor heating, plenty of hit water and lovely wetrokm and shower. Village people we met were friendly. If you like quirky, historical, peaceful and walking this is perfect. We will hopefully be back again. Perfect little bolthole.

Birdsong and Nature a Stones throw from the city
The Gatekeepers Lodge provided me with the perfect accommodation. Adjacent to Dyrham Park, the property is private, extremely well presented, and sits on a country lane among beautiful old growth trees, public walkways, and is. The lodge and its grounds were recently updated to high standards. One can hear lovely birdsong in the morning and afternoon. It is small but every inch the building is adorned with tasteful decore and excellent workmanship retaining the character of this Grade II Listed building. The Lodge has two-foot walls, a lovely private courtyard, and a great upper garden. With modern oven and cooking hobs, an wall television with Freeview, and Boise sound system throughout the building. There is no internet or microwave. I was able to link to my cell phone and use my laptop for most things. Not having internet was actually quite nice, as I spent more time relaxing reading, walking, and enjoying the comforts of the lodge. The bed and bedding were very comfortable and ample linens were provided. The welcome package was much appreciated. There is a small fridge in the unit and a large one is provided in the shed above the garden. The owner replied promptly when I had questions. This is the perfect place for a weekend retreat for a couple or an individual who relishes peace, long walks, or cycling. Or for someone that enjoys visiting National Trust properties and their well-appointed gardens. Dyrham Park itself has beautifully landscaped and well-kept gardens, herds of deer, and great walks. If you want a taste of city life Bristol and Bath are about 15 minutes away. Lower Woods Nature/Wildlife Reserve is about 20 minutes away by car. There you will find ancient woods, rare species of plants and insects, and dazzling views from the outlook. Thank you Jay for having me as your guest. It was perfect for my needs and I hope to comeback with my husband.
