About this property
Cozy mountain yurt on an organic farm
Our cozy, private, rustic mountain yurt is a 30’ foot space located in an upper field tucked into a wooded hillside. Views facing east are great for watching the sunrise and a kitchen and outhouse mean you’ve got everything you need to get out of town for a few days.* The location provides a serene, intimate getaway for couples, artists or anyone looking for a bit of mindful downtime and introspection. The yurt is insulated and can be heated by a wood stove. There is only an outdoor shower here unless you are staying for 3 or more nights then we can offer our indoor shower at our barn.
The space
Surrounding fields are available for tent camping should you want to host a larger event and use the yurt for its kitchen and gathering space (the furniture can be removed). The yurt and its verdant surroundings are great for day-long wellness retreats, sound baths, yoga workshops, art classes and more. A recently renovated barn is also available to rent for events, and package deals with the yurt, catering and/or floral services are available.
A fully equipped, indoor kitchen is located just a few feet outside the yurt. A drop-toilet outhouse is also nearby.
The yurt has a queen-sized bed, twin bunk beds, a dresser, two night tables, and two couches and the kitchen has a breakfast table with four chairs. Linens included for queen bed, for more than 2 guests please byo linens..
Guest access
During snowy winter months the yurt can only be accessed by all wheel drive vehicles, though parking at barn is approx 100 yards away. Hiking and biking trails are just outside yurt entry ramp. Other things to note
This is a working farm so please plan accordingly!

The yurt was private and I appreciated that there were supplies & wood inside to start a fire on the cold morning. Communication earlier would have helped assure we were heading up the correct driveway at night.
I love the idea of yurt rentals so I add comments with reservation. It would be great to add another nonskid strip near the top of the walkway (it was slippery after rain) and to repair the lock on the second door.
Pictures online are very cute, but not updated. I didn't expect bunks, though those would be a great surprise for a group with kiddos.
The location is beautiful and the mountains are quintessential VT. We were surprised by the traffic noise, particularly given the location. The ceiling dome is super fun to see stars on a clear night.
Need to reiterate that the yurt is a great option. And we didn't use it, but the separate kitchen area looked adorable.
Tucked in the woods with all the comforts (coffee maker, kitchen supplies, electric blanket) and true to a rustic adventure (outdoor cold shower, outhouse, wood for fires), this yurt and add-on kitchen was just what we were looking for. The host was warm and easy going, gave us plenty of privacy.

If you love nature, this place is more or less a temporary heaven. The yurt is lovely and unique; the separate kitchen building is so cozy and comforting. Outdoor shower is cold but refreshing :) Outhouse is no problem.

Okay stay
Really read through the reviews to know what to expect. The host did not send a pre arrival message; some of the details on the description vs the reviews vs reality are fuzzy. Due to the fact of no pre arrival message with details I sent a couple message ahead of the visit to Jill. She was prompt to answer. I specifically asked about water and parking. I was flying in and renting a car. I had a family event all weekend in the Monkton area. I have stayed in a couple yurts before with a range of amenities. The yurt was dry for my stay. The insulated window covers were still on and the day temps were in the 80’s. I messaged Jill on arrival if I could remove them. They were really attached, so I just kept the two doors open. One screen door had a one inch hole in it. I worried about bugs, but I was never bothered. The bed was very comfortable. The only improvement would be a fitted sheet on mattress instead of a top sheet. Furniture is thrifted, but seemed clean enough. The kitchen is confusing. There is a sink inside and it was hooked to water, but there is only cold water and leaks on the floor. I just used the hydrant outside to fill tea kettle and my water bottle. Beware that the stove, fridge (dorm fridge) and the lights in the yurt are all on one breaker. The breaker kept blowing while I was there. I only had a fan running in the yurt and used the stove to heat the tea kettle. Jill told me where to find breaker, it required kneeling in mud.Shower in barn nice.
Such a cute space and area. Will absolutely stay here every time I am in Vermont. Lots of privacy even though there’s a bike trail there. Kitchen area is cute and helpful. Everything was great (outhouse included)
We had a great weeekend at the yurt! It’s a very peaceful and relaxing setting, and the nearby kitchen area made cooking easy. The woodstove was great to have on a chilly morning. It was our first time staying in a yurt, and it exceeded our expectations.
We loved our time here at this beautiful location. Host was very responsive and helpful. The onsite trails were really great and our dog enjoyed them. The only downside was that the small bridge to get up to the yurt was wet and very slippery.

The yurt was really a cozy pleasant find. We really enjoyed the stay. The out house was part of the adventure.
This was the perfect stay between a hotel and camping. Close to Burlington where we needed to be for an event but far enough away from where others were staying to do our own thing. Absolutely loved it!

Nice glamping
The yurt was nice and the bed comfortable. The convenience of the fully stocked kitchen is wonderful. The property could use some weeding and clean up.

False advertising. This place do not have a shower and no wifi. Bathroom is a porta potty and far away from the room.
This is not an apartment. This is a yurt.

I expected ample wood supply inside yurt. Didn’t realize kitchen was off of yurt, water had to be connected and bathroom was an outhouse. I stepped inside the door, turn around and left. I didn’t stay there in 14F.

Not the best place
This place was a little bit misleading. They really need more pictures and need to update pictures. We stayed Nov 10 to Nov 12, 2023 which is during the colder months. It would have been a lot better if the wood pile was closer to the yurt. And we noticed a lot of lady bugs and flys inside the yurt, mainly they stayed away from you but still. Overall if you are looking for a get away place, this is not it.
I really loved staying in the yurt. There is no full bathroom, just the outhouse, but I got used to it very quickly. It was summer so I bathed in the creek! The grounds of the farm are amazing. There is a farm stand from 12-6. The path to the yurt is somewhat treacherous so watch your step and use a flashlight after dark. But it is WONDERFUL!! The town of Bristol is so cool. Jill is a great host and all the farm hands were super nice! This is a great, get away from civilization trip for those who love the outdoors and Vermont culture. I will definitely return!!
Think AMC hut, it's rustic and roomy not glamourous. And it was perfect for our family of four and the family dog to escape the city and spend July 4th weekend in VT. We sat in the field with a cup of coffee each morning listening to birds and watching the sun rise over the green mountains. The dark skies at night offered a great opportunity for stargazing and astronomy pictures. The yurt sits next to a great mt bike bike trail that I explored on foot with the dog. The kitchen is 20 steps away on a wooden walkway and functions but not especially inviting, we weren't brave enough to use the outdoor shower head. We'd love to return with our bikes next time and ride the trails. So not for everyone but if you're looking for a step up from camping and ready to embrace nature without bringing any gear this works well.Final note; not HCP accessible, however I have a prosthetic and had no issues with the slanted walkways and surrounding elevations.

Great location and we really enjoyed the fire in the fire pit and watching the stars in the roof of the Yurt. It’s very rustic so don’t think of this as you’re Glamping instead consider this to be more of you’re camping in a tent with hard sides…When we arrived looked at the coffee pot and decided to buy instant coffee instead because the coffee pot was charcoal black with deposits and apparently has never been cleaned.Nearly all of the coffee cups had spiderwebs, no lock on the door, so we packed our belongings into our suitcase and in the car each day because in addition to no door locks, the Yurt is located next to a bike/hike trailhead, so I didn’t feel comfortable leaving our belongings in property with no locks next to a hiking trailhead. No hot water, no Wi-Fi, no Microwave & no flashlight. The Yurt is on a platform, 4ft off of the ground…at night, there are no outdoor lights and no flashlight was provided, so if you don’t have flashlight could easily fall-off the wooden platform and break something while you’re going to the outhouse which is 25 ft away. After seeing the spiderwebs in the coffee cups, I had reservations about the cleanliness of this property and washed every cup, dish & utensil before we used it. Shower: forget about it: no privacy and cold-water only. This has been our worst VRBO experience and to be honest as soon as we checked-in started to look for a hotel to stay at instead of this place.

Interesting
The Yurt is cool. Expect to be camping, It is just camping in a lifted tent. mouse traps were out and there wasn't enough kindling and the wood that was left for us was under a plastic cover but the wood was on the wet ground and the condensation from the ground and the plastic on the top made all the wood wet and hard to burn so we were glad we stoped for "dry" wood. The out house roof was coming off and was a far walk from the yurt. You have to hook up the hoses for water yourself. The ramp to the yurt was poorly built and i fell pretty hard and smacked my head. The "shower" has no walls and to have to bathe naked on a working farm is meh. If no one was there the shower would have been cool. but with people out and about it was weird. This might be a better expierence for a night or two in the summer but defiantly not in winter / spring. the mud tracks made it extremely difficult to drive up and down to the yurt as well and low key thought I was going to rip off my exhaust and im at stock height. Loved the setting and the people however it is not as advertised and people thinking about going to the Yurt should ask ALOT more questions if going here.
We were looking for a different travel experience and found one here. The yurt was comfortable with plenty of room, the farm and views were beautiful! Thanks, Jill!
Great place to getaway for a weekend. Had all we needed for fireplace when we got there. Loved the heated blanket on the comfy bed! We really enjoyed our stay.
