Hotel La Palma

8/10 Good

"Overall, a 4 of 5 star experience. The rooms were clean generally but need a little update. The pool was quite nice albeit a little colder than I prefer. Breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable with lots of delicious food. Some sparrows tend to enter as the windows are open. Service was the only thing I had any issue with. Our arrival experience was disappointing frankly. We were told that the parking lot was full and the instructions for the outside parking area weren't clearly shared with me. We were disappointed that we paid extra for a partial lake view but the view was mostly of the construction site next door. They need to be forthcoming with that. Overall, a pleasant stay with some hiccups."

"The hotel bedroom was delightful. Lovely secluded balcony and view of the lake. Pool was great as was the dining room. It would however have been good to have a kettle in the bedroom. Also perhaps in the reception area a book detailing the trips available from Stresa with train times and interesting destinations."

"Beautiful, spacious, spotlessly clean room with TWO verandas! The location felt very relaxed and safe. Hosts were very helpful with changing our reservation and helping us with everything we needed. Breakfast was also fantastic. Definitely recommend for your stay in Baveno!"

"The property has been updated to a very high (if slightly impractical) standard but some decisions are incongruous. The worst decision was to replace all the grass at the property with astroturf. To have plastic grass in an area of outstanding natural beauty is a crime. In room fixtures and fittings are top quality but again there are issues. The lighting controls are baffling and some come on and go off by themselves. The towels are not particularly nice (and there’s nowhere to hang wet ones), the toilet paper is of poor quality and there’s no conditioner provided. You only get 1GB of free WiFi and they won’t provide an iron for ‘security reasons’. Rip up the plastic grass and take care of a few wider issues and this place could be so much better. There is a lot of 5 star competition in the area and this currently feels more ‘Dubai’ than ‘Dolce Vita’."

"A symphony of Excellence at Regina Palace Hotel. The staff were outstanding, balancing high professionalism with a warm, friendly charm. Our room was a warm, beautifully maintained sanctuary. The attention to detail was incredible; it was spotlessly clean from the pristine windows to the gorgeous decor, with freshly changed bedding and clean towels always provided. From our lovely terrace with its breathtaking mountain view. Enjoying aperitifs there and dining from the Liberty Restaurant was pure magic. The meal was outstanding, and the service was so perfectly orchestrated it felt like a beautiful piece of music. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough."

Hotel Concorde

"Excellent hotel. Cross the street, and there is a little path that gets you down into the water. The only thing I didn't like was that the main road was right underneath our balcony, and it was impossible to have a conversation out there without some motorcycle group interrupting it. Maybe request a room on the top floor... it might be quieter up there."
