Bormujos is a lovely town in Seville, located just 4 miles from the capital of Andalusia. During your stay, you’ll have the chance to visit numerous *haciendas*, traditional estates, including La Peregrina, where the first hydraulic press was installed in Spain in 1928, which a year later would be shown off at the Ibero-American Exhibition in Seville, or the Hacienda de Belén, with its oil mill, winepress and winery. As for religious buildings, the Dominican convent of Santa María la Real, where magnificent works of art and important archives are kept. The parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, on the other hand, is made up of three naves, home to altarpieces, paintings and images from the 17th to the 19th century. The temple was built in the Middle Ages, but after the earthquake in Lisbon of 1655, it underwent numerous renovations. In Bormujos, May is the month dedicated to the Virgin Mary. If visiting at this time of year, when temperatures are around 20 degrees, you’ll be able to enjoy Cruz de Mayo, a local festivity where the town's streets are decorated with colourful crosses made or decorated with flowers.
