Spacious, beautifully decorated and full of thoughtful little touches. Arriving after a twelve hour drive in the pouring rain, just days after a heatwave had hit the area, we weren't in the best of moods, but the gite lifted our spirits no end. It was just myself and my fiancé with our nine year old daughter so we had plenty of space to relax in. It really felt like home with the generous number of appliances and utensils plus all the little essentials (soap, laundry liquid, black pepper, sugar, bin bags, kitchen roll, vegetable oil etc etc) I'd forgotten to buy at the intermarche as I'd rushed around five minutes before it closed. Once the rain cleared, we ventured into the beautiful garden area to relax. We met Quitterie who was hugely welcoming and who forgave my poor French and gave lots of helpful advice (thankfully I'm good at listening in French!) Le Tourne has a fabulous bakery within easy reach for the daily pain au chocolate and baguette purchase and the intermarche is minutes away by car for barbecue and wine essentials. It's a great location for wine Country, although be warned the traffic on the route to Arcachon is troublesome - particularly when you drive it four out of seven days (the joys of having a nine year old in tow!) All in all we loved it and wished we had stayed longer. We will no doubt be back soon. We were definitely not disappointed. We were greeted by Quitterie who walked us through the very spacious 2 story property that included all the comforts that we would enjoy at our own home in the USA - First floor included a well stocked kitchen with stove/oven, dishwasher, cooking and dining ware, adjoining breakfast nook, laundry room and a separate toilet facility, a spacious living room with a massive stone chimney fireplace that spanned upward to second floor ceiling that would be welcoming during a cold weather visit, comfortable seating and an adjoining dining area all opening to a lovely walled shaded lawn sitting area outside. The Second floor included a loft queen bedroom overlooking the living room and two additional bedrooms (one twin and one queen) down the hall, a tub/ shower bathroom with vanity/basin area and a separate toilette. The location allowed us to enjoy walks down a fairly quiet road in the early mornings and evenings, drive to enjoy old French Architecture, vineyard after vineyard, and an Abbey built in the 11th Century that is under restoration. We would certainly recommend this property to all of our friends and would enjoy returning if the opportunity ever arises. Quitterie and her husband with their predominantly French language were able to adequately communicate with my husband and I with our predominantly English language in order to make our stay a success. ##### Sharon D. A very characterful conversion in an idyllic rural setting, we found this the perfect place to experience Bordeaux for the first time, and so much more relaxing than being cooped up in a hotel room. We had bikes with us and were able to store them very conveniently and securely. For two it was positively palatial and we would return with friends or relations should the opportunity arise. There is only one bathroom, albeit a very good one, but there is a downstairs loo as well. The two bedrooms are very comfy and have plenty of storage. The third double bed is situated on a large gallery above the living space but can be easily screened off. The owners are very friendly and there is really nothing missing. Our family party of 5 adults had a fantastic stay in this beautiful barn conversion. There was plenty of space for us all in the hottest of weeks which saw us staying indoors far more than we would usually. But the space was so well equipped for us to cook and relax that it made it a pleasure. Our hosts were remarkably friendly and had gone to great lengths to ensure our comfort, including purchasing a new garden parasol on account of the very high temperatures. The house itself is also spotlessly clean. Bordeaux is in easy reach and we spent a wonderful day there, having parked and caught the tram. We sampled local wines including the Clairet which was new to us and rode the wonderful cycle path between Créon and Sauveterre. All in all the barn at le Mesnil was perfect for our family holiday. ##### Nicki S. Stayed 7 nights in Jul 2018 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Dirk H. 25 Jul 2018 #### Schönes Ferienhaus in unmittelbarer Nähe zu Bordeaux Wir haben in diesem schönen Ferienhaus unseren dreiwöchigen Sommerurlaub verbracht. Das Haus ist liebevoll eingerichtet und mit allem ausgestattet, was man benötigt. Wir hatten dort mit drei Personen mehr als genügend Platz. Der Garten ist sehr gepflegt, schön angelegt und lädt förmlich zum Entspannen ein. Das Haus ist ruhig gelegen und wer dies mag, ist dort auch ausgesprochen gut aufgehoben. Die Vermieter sind sehr nett und herzlich. Sie haben uns mit vielen Tipps über Sehenswürdigkeiten in der näheren Umgebung versorgt. Wir fühlten uns dort von Anfang an richtig wohl und gut von Ihnen aufgenommen. Supermarkt, Boulangerie sowie die ansässigen Restaurants sind ohne Probleme gut (auch zu Fuß) zu erreichen. An Höhepunkten in der näheren Umgebung mangelt es nicht. Bordeaux ist mit dem Auto nur 20 Minuten entfernt und ein Ausflug zum nahen Atlantik lohnt sich in jedem Fall. Wir würden jederzeit dort wieder Urlaub machen und das Wegfahren ist uns auch nach 3 Wochen nicht so einfach gefallen. Vielen Dank oder besser merci beaucoup nochmal für alles an die Familie Rodiere und wir kommen gerne wieder. ##### Dirk H. In summer the garden great. Location good for cycling. All we needed to cook in was there. We stayed as a 2 - might be a bit squashy if 6\. And tricky as one bedroom on a mezzanine which you have to pass to go up and down stairs. ##### Leila F. Ce maison avoir une ambience original et rustic avec vrais comfort et pleine de espace. 30 min de Bordeaux dans belle lieu pres de nature et rivière avec tranquillité. Myself and my partner stayed here for a week whilst organising suppliers for our upcoming wedding. The property is a lot larger than the photos do justice and has been exceptionally well finished. The kitchen is well stocked with a dishwasher and convex hobs and a coffee machine. There is a lovely fireplace in the living room. Whilst it wasn't cold enough to warrant its use during our stay (26 degrees in October!) I would imagine it would create a lovely atmosphere. There is a bit garden space outside with tables and deckchairs to enjoy the sunshine and the bedrooms are all good sizes. The owners were incredibly friendly and accommodating. There is a supermarket five minutes away and the house is approx 35 minute drive from the airport. We would certainly stay here again 9/10 ##### Adam H. Magnifique maison très confortable et chaleureuse. Cuisine très bien équipée pour préparer des repas après une longue de journée de visites. L'approvisionnement se fait facilement dans les environs et de façon très agréable surtout dans les marchés de village. Superbe cour intérieure pour prendre le petit déjeuner ou savourer les bons vins de la région ! Mit Geschmack u. viel Liebe zum Detail wurde die Einrichtung auf viel Platz zusammengestellt; die Küche ist komplett u. reichlich bestückt, so dass nicht nach jeder Mahlzeit abgewaschen werden muss; Selbstverpflegung wird durch Vorhandensein aller gängiger Gerätschaften leicht gemacht. Intermarché 1.2 km entfernt. Bis Bordeaux 20\` mit dem Auto, um alle Chateaus "abzuarbeiten" müssen mehrere Urlaube investiert werden. Das Anwesen mit Haupthaus (offenbar früheres Wein-Chateau) und dem Vermietungsobjekt liegt auf einer Anhöhe mit herrlichem Blick ins Tal der Garonne. Für Naturliebhaber u. Bewegungs-Begeisterte ebenso attraktiv wie für Rückzugs-Bedürftige, die unter den Akazien vor der Tür dicke Wälzer lesen wollen. Im Inserat ist nichts übertrieben. Wegen der Treppe zum Obgeschoss nicht geeignet für Mobilitätseingeschränkte u. für Kleinkinder bis ca 6 J.
