There was a vacant lot directly across the street from the driveway leading to direct beach access, away from the crowd. This gave us plenty of our own beach space but only steps away from Doc's beach bar and all its amenities. We knew when we selected this home that there would be some trade offs with the overall amenities of the home. We grill a lot and the supplied grill has seen better days, and unlike most people on vacation we cook in more than most. The home although pretty well supplied, there were some things we wished were updated. The updated bathroom in the lower level was very nice, as well as very comfortable beds and bedding.Overall we were both very happy with our stay and would highly recommend the bungalow to any who wants the ideal beach home at a reasonable price. The location was excellent. It was just a short couple minute walk to the beach and a short drive to the grocery story and restaurants. We particularly enjoyed the back deck overlooking the canal, observing birds, dolphins and fish jumping. We were even able to view the beautiful sunsets from the end of the deck! The house was very clean and well stocked. We particularly were appreciative of the beach supplies that were provided for our use. The only negative for us was the king size bed mattress was very uncomfortable. We had to move into the queen bedroom for a better mattress. Also the couch in the living room was not comfortable. We spent more time sitting in the kitchen which wasn’t all bad with that great view of the canal! All in all, would definitely recommend this cottage. ##### Gayle W. We came down to escape the cold Chicago winter. My husband set up a little "office" on the ground floor. He had a great view out the sliding glass doors of the back bay. It worked out great. The property was very clean and the property owner was extremely responsive. We loved that they had Tommy Bahama beach chairs. The beach was just a short walk across the street. Docs was just a few door down. Someone in the past complained about the bed in the master bedroom, but we found it very comfortable. The bathroom in the master bedroom is very small, however, there are two other nice size bathrooms in the home. The ground floor bathroom looks brand new. Our only issue was with the windows. To us, it seemed like the energy efficient film was installed on the wrong side of the windows. It was very dark in the unit during the day if the windows were closed and at night, you could not see out of the windows, but others could see right in. Went kayaking on the bay and walked on the beach almost every day. The beach access is a 5 minute walk. We are familiar with this part of Florida and loved being close to some restaurants which were within walking distance. The beach was easily accessible with a great crosswalk several houses down (in front of Docs restaurant). We appreciated having a supply of beach chairs, umbrellas and a beach cart! We loved sitting on the back deck in the evenings. Our king bed was very comfortable and we slept great! Thank you for allowing us to stay in your little slice of paradise! Owners were great. To be truthful, the first floor was extremely musty. We could not use the pullout. Also, no fault of the owners but construction noise was constant. Walk to the beach every day! We did! We also caught catfish right off the dock. Saw jellyfish, and some monster fish kayaking. Listing accurately describes property. Well stocked kitchen including spices and other basics. Plenty of extras: kayaks, fishing equipment and beach supplies. The dock on back bay allowed us to fish and use kayaks. We had a Herrin and dolphin visit us during our stay. Owner is responsive to questions and was quick to resolve issue we had with internet. The property is ideally located for all age groups with something for everyone. Doc,s is a great place for the younger set. Our young adults also enjoyed all that Fort Myers Beach has to offer, and it,s just a short drive away. For the"older set" the proximity of restaurants, shopping,and the beach is ideal. We enjoyed kayaking in the bay, and I especially enjoyed sitting on the back deck with a glass of wine watching the wildlife in and around the bay. All in all it was a very positive experience. Waking up each morning and enjoying the back balcony overlooking the canal was fabulous! The house was very clean and had everything you would ever need. The location is absolutely the best. You have most of everything you need within walking distance with great restaurants and the beach (Bonita Beach) across the street. You have a short drive up to Ft. Myers beach if you are looking for more action or you can walk down to Barefoot Beach if you want something more laid back. This place is worth the money!!! ##### Heath E. ---
