#### Spot whales and seals from the viewpoints dotted along this rugged outcrop, which has beaches, sand dunes, trails and kiosks.

Bodega Head is a small peninsula that sticks out from the western end of Bodega Bay. A nature trail meandering past the rugged cliffs offers excellent ocean views of the promontory, which is about 4 miles (6 kilometres) long and 1 mile (1.6 kilometres) wide. Stroll up and down the sandy beaches and climb the dunes in this eclectic terrain. 

Walk with your family along the Bodega Head Trail, which runs in a loop and covers a distance of 1.8 miles (2.9 kilometres). The path is easy and accessible for most visitors. Capture photos of your kids with a backdrop of wildflowers and the white surf of the crashing waves. Many rocks appear to rise from the shallow white foam of the ocean that laps the base of the cliffs.

Chat with local hikers and dog walkers on your way along the trail. Admire the spectacular views of the Northern California coastline and the Pacific Ocean. Spot seals, cormorants, pelicans and even whales. The best chance to see whales is between January and May. Consider bringing extra layers of clothes, as it can get cold and windy on this outcrop. For special thrills, watch storms from the end of Bodega Head.

Take the second trail up to the Hole in the Head at the tip of the peninsula. The hike is fairly steep. Purchase souvenirs and refreshments from various kiosks along the way. Bring a chair and wait for the majestic sunset on the horizon of this scenic lookout.

Descend the flight of wooden steps from the cliff to the beach. Sunbathe on one of the sandy bays, such as Campbell Cove Beach. Visit the large lake nearby.

Note that the trail is free to access and is open at all times. Arrive early to ensure you can find a parking space at the trailhead.

Bodega Head juts out of the western part of Bodega Bay into the Pacific Ocean. It is just west of Doran Regional Park and a 15-minute drive southwest from Bodega. Visit nearby landmarks, such as Salmon Creek, Bodega Dunes Campground and Spud Point Marina.

The Music City Hotel. This is a great concept & fun place to stay. It is really a hidden gem. You are the star! Stay here with your crew while you are on tour! This place has alot to offer a traveling entertainer. It is also a fun alternative place to stay than a typical hostel. There are a few different room options for singles, doubles & separate bunk style dorms for men & women. Plenty of showers. Everything is maintained nicely with daily cleaning service with coffee. The building offers private studio space for rent & staged performances nightly. It is a music venue downstairs at night with a variety of entertainment. They have a bunch of music classes taught by experts. Live local or stay at the hotel while you take a class. The bar has a food menu and bar specials. The nightly entertainment is free for guests. We had a great time and met alot of different musicians and travelers during our visit. It is in a great central location to get around the whole city
