River House on the McKenzie
This is exactly what you're looking for! This cottage sits right on the river's edge in the historic Holiday Farm community just off Mckenzie River Drive in Rainbow, Oregon. Sit on the covered porch under the comfort of the heated sitting area and watch the Mckenzie River roll by -- literally sitting a few feet from the river's edge. Enjoy the beautiful river-rock fireplace in the living room with french doors opening to the magnificent McKenzie River as it flows by, just a few feet away. Within the living room, there is a nice sofa (sleeper) and matching chair, plus two other chairs. The master bedroom has two windows with views of the river, as this room also sits right at the river's edge. There is a large screen TV in the bedroom and another larger model in the living room -- both with Dish Network. This cabin also offers private wi-fi internet for your exclusive use. The large bathroom offers a full size tub/shower and, of course, the other essentials. The kitchen is not large, but fully functional and equipped, right down to the dishes, utensils, pans, etc... please remember that even though this cabin is perfectly located, and exactly what anyone would want -- it's also most comfortable for parties of no more than 4 (if two are kids who will sleep on the sofa sleeper). There's a queen size bed in the bedroom and a sleeper sofa that could sleep one adult or possibly two small children. Maximum occupancy allowed is 4, unless the fifth guest is a small child -- confirm with Jonathan if you have any questions. Jonathan is also your local contact for any needs or questions you might have. This property not only sits right on the river's edge, it also sits on the edge of the Willamette National Forest -- full of natural hot-springs, hiking trails through incredible displays of nature, vast ancient lava flows and several high cascade lakes. The world famous, Three Sisters Wilderness Area, is located with a just a few miles of this cabin. The wild fire did affect a vast area to the west and downriver as far as the Vida area. However, 95% of what folks come here for is all still here. So bring your hiking shoes, as nearly all trails are in fine order and ready for your exploration. The property is located far enough from the Highway, so bring those bikes along too. The Belknap Bridge ( a classic covered bridge) is located just up Mckenzie River Drive a short distance, and King Rd is a great road to ride on, plus it leads to the trailhead to Castle Rock. Look up The Willamette National Forest and you'll see lots of information regarding trails, along with wonderful maps showing where the High Cascade Lakes are located. Make sure you try out at least one of the local hot-springs, hike to the Blue Pool, hike the Mckenzie River Trail from Sahalie Falls to Carmen Reservoir and back, and try the hike to Castle Rock for sure. Golf at Tokatee, eat at Takodas Restaurant and get a "chicken on a stick" from Blue Sky. Just some of the recommended activities around here. Of course, that all only matters if you can tear yourself away from this cabin, and especially the river's edge, heated, covered porch.

Perfect small cabin for a relaxing getaway. Cabin is well kept and perfectly equipped. Sitting in a rocking chair on the deck and watching the river go by was a little slice of heaven. This is my second time visiting, and there will be more.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the River house. Visiting our daughter who lives in Eugene, this was the perfect get away. Description was perfect. View was amazing from the heated porch! Will stay here again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at River House. Comfortable furniture, well stocked kitchen, and of course, the perfect accompaniment of the river right outside. The deck is every bit as inviting as the photos portray, even in January! We look forward to staying here again in the future.
We’ve stayed in this cabin many times and love it. It is comfortable and peaceful. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and just watching the river. I’m sure we’ll be back.
We loved it here! Right on the McKenzie, we drank coffee on the back deck every morning. Property is exactly what’s posted online. It’s nice and quiet and located near everything we came to see
Best stay ever. This house and location are gems. All you can hear is the river and occasional waterfowl—beautiful, fun decor, clean, and incredibly cozy. The deck, right on the edge of the river is amazing—four days of wonderful R&R. We will be back.
The size was perfect for a couple. What made it so nice was the big deck with rockers and an overhead heater. We spent hours on the deck just watching the river flow by.
We love this cabin so much, it's now become an annual tradition. Clean, comfortable and cozy. Rocking chairs on the heated porch by the river - couldn't ask for a more relaxing and beautiful getaway.
We had a lovely 2-night getaway. The property is charming, and the location is centrally to all kinds of outdoor activities. Only negative experience was the queen mattress, which was very uncomfortable.
We loved this cabin. My friend and I hiked everyday and spent the rest of the time enjoying sitting on the deck, watching the ducks, the view, and rafters. I will definitely be going back to this wonderful place.

One of my favorite places on Earth. Cozy and inviting peaceful environment. This is our third year booking this property. We will be back
Close to holiday farm where wedding was located. Great little house. Really appreciated coffee fixings so we had that every morning by river! Loved having a place where pup could join us in vacation!! Just perfect weekend.
We really enjoyed our short stay at the Riverhouse. The cabin was really cute, clean, and spacious. Extremely relaxing sitting on the padded rocking chairs on the back deck overlooking the river. Cabin had everything we needed. We hope to stay again sometime.
The cottage by the river was very relaxing. I brought a book and did finish it but spent more time watching the river.
My husband golfed at Toketee with our grandson who was camping near by. It was a lovely, relaxing time.

This was just a beautiful serene place that I would definitely visit again. The cabin was cozy, clean and just as described. Magical. Both restaurants we ate at there were very good--Takodas and Mckenzie River Pub and Espresso! Will book again for sure.
This is a tucked away gem on a gorgeous scenic drive. Like previous reviewers, we loved the heated porch and rockers and enjoying the gorgeous river view. The cabin was exceptionally clean, cute, and comfortable. It was just as advertised.
