Rusty Rooster- Pet Friendly | Running Creek on Property | Paved Roads
Picture the peaceful solitude of a Georgia mountain cabin rental, hidden in the woods with sunlight filtering through the tall trees. Close your eyes, and the only thing you'll hear is the soothing sound of the stream that flows through the property year round. It's like being in a fairytale forest, and it's the magical atmosphere you'll find at Rusty Rooster (formerly know as Above the Brook). Secluded and private, yet just five minutes from downtown Blue Ridge, it's convenient to everything but feels completely far away from it at the same time.
Inside, the cabin is bright and airy, mostly pine and decorated in rustic, cozy style with comfortable furniture and old plank floors. A gorgeous stone wood-burning fireplace is the centerpiece of the main living area, with a 48” TV on the beautiful cedar mantel above it. The well-stocked kitchen features wood cabinetry, black and stainless electric appliances, blender, toaster, hand mixer, electric teakettle, crockpot, griddle, drip coffeemaker, and the dining table seats six.
You'll dream in comfort in your choice of three cozy bedrooms, each with private en suite bath, 28” TV, full size closet and ceiling fan. There are king beds in the main level and upstairs master bedroom, which has a vaulted ceiling and bathroom with shower. Downstairs bedroom near the game room has queen bed and twin bunk beds. In the game room, where there's a 46” TV, foosball, darts, and board games for your amusement.
The cabin is designed for outdoor living, with a gas grill on the main deck with plenty of seating including a picnic table, loveseat, and rockers, and on the lower level deck, a seating area and a hot tub with room for five. There's a fire pit with benches and a path to a bench beside the creek.
As lovely as it is, you'll want to explore beyond the property, and there are many options nearby including hiking trails, tubing on the Toccoa River, wine and beer tastings, picking fruit at Mercier Orchards, riding the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway and of course, the shopping, dining and a great park for kids in downtown Blue Ridge. If you love antiques, shops abound there and in neighboring towns like Jasper and Blairsville. Also, you can enjoy jet ski and pontoon rentals at Lake Blue Ridge or relax at the marina bar with local music.
Rusty Rooster also provides WiFi, cable on every TV, a washer/dryer, a highchair seat and pack 'n play, and gravel driveway. And you don't have to leave your canine best friends at home. You're welcome to bring two well-behaved dogs with you to enjoy your very special vacation.

This place was perfect for our short get away! The location was great for us as we wanted to be close to downtown Blue Ridge. We arrived early and were allowed to check in! The cabin was exceptionally clean and there was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space as needed. Will definitely stay again!
Easy access. Nice house. Excellent main level porch with a view. We ate meals there and had everything we needed for prepping, cooking, even grilling! Rusty Rooster for the win!
Nice accommodations. Clean and comfortable. Somewhat disappointed that there were no coffee filters for the coffee pot, Kleenex and salt/pepper. Thanks for the caretaker getting someone to get fallen tree out of driveway.
This property was actually nicer than the pictures. There was plenty of space for us all. We had some internet issues but called and they came out right away. The beds were comfy and i never once felt gross or like we were in an outdated cabin like many we have been in before. Everything was updated and just an overall nkve stay.
We had a delightful holiday getaway and enjoyed our stay. The dogs were happy, the kids were happy and mom and dad were happy. We’d absolutely stay here again next time we visit the Blue Ridge area.
The property was great. The hot tub wasn’t working which was a downfall, but the stream and outdoor area around the house entertained my kids for hours
This was a great cabin for a family get away! There was lots of room for everyone to spread out while having lots of activities to also bring us together. The cabin was easy to locate, very clean, very comfortable. We loved the game room, board games and hot tub for family fun. We also enjoyed sittting on the porch enjoying the beautiful view. And it was great that we could bring our dogs! We were sorry to have to leave and want to book again.
My family and I rented houses 3 and 4 miles from each other. This home was perfect for our family because they have a great lounge room downstairs where the kids could hang out and play games. The bedrooms upstairs were spacious and wonderful for the adults. The creek and outdoor area was perfect t for exploring and catching critters with the kids. We would definitely come back to this property!! Thank you for a wonderful time.
Beautiful home and porches. The additions and upgrades were a nice surprise. We found everything we needed and more. The only issues we found as older “folks” was the porch light needs to be replaced. We missed the step coming out of the front door several times. Definitely would stay again and stay on the back porches and enjoy the amazing fire pit area!

Dirty with a horrible parking situation.
Unit was dirty. Shower upstairs wouldn’t work and TV would not work in living room. It shouldn’t allow dogs because there is clearly no where to walk them unless down a hill side.
We absolutely loved this property! It was just my husband and I with our two dogs, but there was plenty of space for this to be a larger family cabin stay. The property has actually been updated since the photos on the listing were posted, as they are working on an add-on of a garage and 1 bedroom next to the cabin. All of the bathrooms have been updated and the kitchen has also had some upgrades! The place is very clean, and our favorite part was just hanging out on the back deck enjoying coffee and breakfast in the morning.
A few notes to any dog owners is that the porch and walkway/deck area has also been redone and expanded, so the second story patio is no longer enclosed. We pulled over one of the benches to keep our dogs from getting out so they could hang out with us out there, so just keep that in mind. There is not a whole lot of flat, grassy areas for potty breaks, and our dogs are used to having their own yard, so that was a bit of an adjustment for them but they got used to it quickly. We were able to give them nice walks up the quiet road and it was a great change of scenery for them coming from FL.
We loved this place because it was clean and the kitchen had all the utensils we needed for cooking. Just be sure to buy your own spices, oils, etc. at the grocery store. The location is perfect as it is only about 5 minutes from the main shops and restaurants, and we went to Ingles for grocery shopping. Hiking trails about 20 minutes away as well. All in all we loved it and just wish we booked it for a longer stay! We would definitely stay again!
The house was very nice. Its location was fantastic, close to Blue Ridge with the awesome creek in the back of the property.
The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was actually oddities in the “Escape to Blue Ridge” rental agreement and its process for gathering information before your stay. I had a very unpleasant conversation with a woman named Leighanne from Escape to Blue Ridge just days before our stay. She did not seem to appreciate me having questions about why contact information for someone not participating in the stay with us was needed. She said she would have a manager reach out to me about my concerns and never did.
I feel bad having to leave a less than stellar review because of this experience.
The house and property were great and exactly as described, but we did leave not feeling like the biggest fans of “Escape to Blue Ridge” as a rental management company in the area.
We had a great stay in this rental. It was beautifully decorated and very cozy. I loved that I could bring my dogs with me and they had a blast. Lots of birds and little animals to look at. This place is close to everything Blue Ridge has to offer. We can't wait to stay here again.
Very nice cabin, assortment of activities indoors and outdoors. No shortage of fun! Surrounded by beautiful nature.

"Escape to Blue Ridge" is a Terrible Management Company
If you're lucky enough to not have to deal with the management company ("Escape to Blue Ridge") during your stay, you'd probably be happy enough here. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for us. Here's the TL;DR version of our experience -- (1) Escape to Blue Ridge (EBR) poorly handled a disruption of water service at our cabin and (2) we asked EBR to make sure that the hot tub on the property was working before we came, and it wasn't/they didn't. Getting EBR to do anything helpful is like pulling teeth.
Some heavy storms came through Blue Ridge, GA just before our trip. I saw on the city's website that one part of town did not have water service due to a broken water main. It took me 2 emails and a phone call to EBR to find out that yes, in fact, our cabin was included in the part of town that did not have water. EBR told me they expected the water main to be fixed that same day, so we left our home in Michigan for the 2 day drive to Georgia.
The next day, I emailed EBR to make sure we had water service at the cabin. I wrote, "Can you tell me whether water service has been restored to our cabin yet? If not, we will stay elsewhere." They wrote back, "The cabin will be ready for you at 3:00 this afternoon. I hope you have a wonderful stay!" That was it -- not a word about the water. Only after I pressed them on it did I find out that, while water service had been restored, the property was under a "boil water" advisory. They apparently had no intention of telling me that. They also weren't going to do anything to make sure that we had potable water during our visit. I had to insist that they provide bottled water for us. Their whole attitude seemed to be "sucks to be you/not our problem."
The other issue we had with EBR had to do with the hot tub on the property. When we made our reservation, we told EBR that our kids were looking forward to the hot tub and we asked that they make sure that it was working before we arrived. Well, it wasn't working when we got there, and it was Day 3 of our stay before they sent a repairman to the property to fix it, despite repeated requests. The repairman got it sort-of working, but the fix lasted just one day. Still more calls were made to EBR. The person on the phone kept telling us they'd send someone out. We'd go off for a day of hiking, only to come back to a still-cold hot tub. It still wasn't working when we left. We were able to use the hot tub just one day while we were there.
The Rusty Rooster is our favorite cabin rental yet! It was perfectly clean inside. It felt like a hotel with the comfiest beds, linens and towels. It was minimally and adorably decorated, everything was so tidy (it only took us a moment to have things baby proofed for our one year old). It had everything we needed (well stocked kitchen, play pen and high chair, lots of board games)....plus more! The kids loved the downstairs "kid pad" complete with a bedroom, big couch, foosball, air hokey, darts, and an old-school Nintendo game the kids really enjoyed. It had a really nice washer and dryer downstairs, and a private bedroom with it's own bathroom upstairs in the loft. The closed-in balcony off of the living room was also great for the baby (no escaping down the stairs while mom reads her book and listens to the creek!) There was a gas grill and dining table in this space. On the downstairs deck we of course loved the HUGE hot tub! Finally, the back yard was more wonderful than I had imagined! The children were enchanted by the little stream with a bridge over it. There was an outdoor fire pit by the creek, and also one with lots of chairs up higher on the property. It was easy enough to find, very managable roads. It is in a nice community, but felt very private (there was a cabin on either side, but it still felt really private). The location was close to all the great activities in Blue Ridge, but ours was a "Covid-19" trip, so things were just starting to open back up. The home itself really was enough for us to be fully pleased and enjoy our vacation, but if you can go when things are open, there are many great hikes and other activities very close by. There was a Food Lion and other stores within 10 minutes. The home supplied dish soap, dishwasher tabs, and trash bags that lasted us the whole stay. I really can't say enough about how happy we were with it. Our family of 6 with children ages 1-10 all give this 5 stars, plus! We like trying new cabins each time, but we will for sure book again with "Escape to Blue Ridge" as I feel they do a wonderfully professional and pleasing job! Thank you for the amazing memories :).
