WHY GUESTS CHOOSE BEAR CLOUD
The views are the first thing you'll notice. Long-range, layered ridges rolling south, visible year-round, not just when the leaves drop. One recent guest wrote that her whole family gasped when they walked in. That reaction is pretty typical.
The second thing you'll notice is how the cabin actually works for a group. Two king suites (one on each level) mean two sets of parents, or two couples, get equal privacy. The main-level queen-plus-full room is perfect for kids or teens. A downstairs queen suite gives a fourth couple their own space. Plus a queen sleeper sofa when you need it.
The third thing you'll notice is how easy it all is. Paved driveway. Five parking spots. Self check-in. A cabin that's genuinely set up, not just photographed well.
NEW FOR 2026
We just added two upgrades guests have been asking for:
- Brand-new hot tub on the covered lower deck, tucked under the trees. Surrounded by woods, protected from the rain, with seating for 6.
- Stone fire pit with Adirondack chairs in the backyard, ready for s'mores, cool evenings, and the kind of long conversations that only happen around a real fire.
WHAT YOUR DAYS CAN LOOK LIKE
Slow mornings with fresh coffee on the upper deck as the sun comes up over the ridges. Downtown Blue Ridge for lunch, the Scenic Railway, or Mercier Orchards in the afternoon. Back to the cabin for a shuffleboard rematch while dinner cooks on the grill. The kids dig into the board games. Someone pours a second glass of wine. The fireplace clicks on. Later, fire pit under the stars, then hot tub before bed.
That's the Bear Cloud rhythm. Close enough to town to feel connected, private enough to feel like a real escape.

Every bathroom has a hair dryer. Tub-showers throughout (perfect for bathing kids and dogs after a day outside). A baby bath is available for the little ones.
Sleep quality: guests consistently mention the beds. One recent review: "All the beds were SO comfortable, it was the best sleep any of us had gotten in years."
OUTDOOR SPACE: TWO DECKS, A FIRE PIT, AND 1.5 PRIVATE ACRES
Upper Deck (main level)
The view deck. Long-range layered ridges straight ahead, dining table for outdoor meals, gas grill connected to the house propane (no tanks to swap), rocking chairs, and a porch swing. This is where guests linger with morning coffee and where sunset drinks happen.
Lower Deck
Covered, quieter, and tucked into the trees. Home to the new hot tub. More rocking chairs and swings make this the spot for a book, a nap, or a late-night soak in the rain.
The Fire Pit
A real stone fire pit with four Adirondack chairs, set in the woods just off the cabin. Wood-burning, ready for marshmallows and slow nights under the stars. Please check local burn bans before lighting.
The Yard
Bear Cloud sits on 1.5 private wooded acres. Plenty of space for kids to run, dogs to sniff, and the whole group to spread out.
LIVING ROOM (main level)
The room guests gasp at. Vaulted ceilings. A wall of windows framing the layered mountain view. A plush leather sectional that seats the whole family with room for blankets and popcorn. A gas fireplace that clicks on with a switch (no chopping wood, no smoke smell). A 65" smart TV loaded with streaming apps. Bluetooth speakers throughout.
Paired with a dining table for 6, bar seating for 4, and a high chair, there's room for everyone to gather without feeling crammed in.
KITCHEN (main level)
Full kitchen, fully stocked for family meals. Full-size stove, built-in microwave, dishwasher, fridge, Keurig, drip coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster, and blender. Cookware, bakeware, knives, cutting boards, wine glasses, and every utensil you actually need.
Starter supplies waiting on arrival: dish soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, paper towels, and trash bags to cover your first few nights.
Dining options:
- Indoor dining table seats 6
- Kitchen bar seats 4
- Upper deck dining table for outdoor meals
- High chair
- Toddler plates and cups ready in the cabinet
GAME ROOM (lower level)
Downstairs is where the trip gets memorable. The game room runs long across the lower level: a full shuffleboard table, a foosball table, a cozy leather sectional in front of the second gas fireplace, and a 65" smart TV.
It's the kind of space where tournaments start, kids disappear for hours (in a good way), and adults stay up too late in the best way. A full-size washer and dryer are tucked in down here too, which matters more than you'd think on longer stays with kids or pets.
FAMILY FRIENDLY
Traveling with kids is either easy or it's the whole trip. We've set up Bear Cloud so it's easy.
For babies and toddlers: pack-n-play (please bring your own fitted sheet), high chair, baby bath, toddler plates and cups.
For older kids: game room with shuffleboard, foosball, board games, 6 smart TVs with streaming, fiber Wi-Fi that actually works for their devices, plus a real fire pit for s'mores.
For the parents: two king suites so two sets of grown-ups each get privacy, separate living areas upstairs and downstairs so nap time upstairs doesn't stop fun downstairs, washer and dryer for the inevitable spills and mud.
For the whole family: balanced bedroom layout across two floors, cozy fireplaces, outdoor space, and a 10-minute drive to ice cream, pizza, and Mercier Orchards when you need an easy afternoon win.
Multi-family or multi-generational trip? This cabin was designed for it. The two king suites on separate floors and the balanced bathroom count (3.5 across two levels) are why groups rebook.
BRING THE DOG
We welcome up to 2 dogs, 75 pounds or under, with a small pet fee added when you book. Your pup is part of the family, and Bear Cloud is happy to host them.
What to know before you arrive:
- The yard is not fenced
- Our mountain neighborhood is hilly, so long leashed walks from the driveway are limited. For real exercise, drive to one of the nearby trails.
- Downtown Blue Ridge has several dog-friendly patios and a walkable shopping district, so your dog can come along for lunch and ice cream runs.
Please keep dogs off the furniture and beds, and pick up in the yard. That's it.
