This hotel could be great if it were properly staffed with a high end hospitality background and about 10-20 more staff overall (servers, valet, bellmen, front desk, maintenance, pool, etc). The food is good, especially the fish tacos and Lobster roll, but the amount of time it took the kitchen to prepare meals at both the Sandpiper and for in-room dining was astonishing. My kids were falling asleep by the time room service would arrive at our room and with incorrect orders. The beds/pillows/bedding are nice but the layout of the staircases to/from each floor is utterly bizarre and because we had an Ocean cows room, the cars, sirens, and honking on Ocean Ave did not make for an ideal way to wake up.

Beautiful property on an old military base near the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s simple and a bit rustic (so don’t expect high end luxury in the rooms) but the restaurant is very good, the views are beautiful, the staff is helpful, it’s in the middle of eucalyptus trees. You need a car to get there. They have complimentary yoga classes. Not great for accessibility as there are hills and stairs. Very relaxing base from which to explore the Bay Area

"The biggest miss is that one of the beds was not made. Someone had clearly slept there and there was dirt on the sheets. I wouldn't care if the place was not over 300 per night. Additionally, there were no check-in details, no guide how to get there. A little sentence or two indicating what to look ..."
