Hotel is close to shops

Posted 22-May-2017
Pros: Close to shops
Cons: The hotel needs a complete refurbishment and friendly staff
Location: Shops and restaurants
We were allowed to leave our bags as check in was 2pm and not a moment before. The room was on the ninth floor and the furthest away literally the last room on that floor. The room had no window, an old LEC fridge that was smelly, and there were holes in the carpet. Not all the bulbs worked in the bathroom, in fact the only saving grace this hotel has is that it's close to the shopping areas and restaurants of Birmingham. Would I stay there again, definitely not.

Very basic

Pros: Not a lot
On arrival at front of hotel was approached by a couple of homeless people as a party of mother and daughter it felt unsafe. At reception we were challenged about breakfast being included in our booking which management had to confirm. The room 503 allocated to us was the noisiest room as located nice to a tightly sprung fire door, which you had to fight to hold open when you went through it, and area was main through fare for other guests to get to their rooms. Aircon inside the room kept constantly firing up and we were also over looking a walk through from one side of shopping area to another so was used as a short cut by public, again noisy. At breakfast we were confronted again about our room being room only so we were told breakfast would be £10.50 each. When checking out though they did not charge us. Didn't get much sleep at all! Won't be staying again.

good location for train

Posted 13-May-2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Wifi connection, cleaning should be better
Location: Good for shops and train
5 mins from station that was good, Pleaseant and friendly staff, room warm and nice except wifi would not work , there were 2 black hairs on glasses in bathroom and black unpleasant hairs in bath on plug. This seemed a bit poor.

There was pubic hair in the toilet and sand on the bedside table the electrics only partially worked there was no duvet just a sheet the bathroom taps were dirty it hadn't been cleaned properly. The view was of a Brick wall through a window that opened a few inches and was above a loud fan that ran intermittently all night. I was woken up by A loud encounter between two people in the alley way beneath the window. It was unbearably hot all night. The shower was not for a tall person.

Once majestic now aged

I booked a two night stay here while I started a new job in the city. The hotel is on New Street, which is a less celubrious part of the city. The entrance to the hotel is down a sorry looking side street. My room was clean and comfortable but very dated and quite shabby. The hotel served a purpose but I wouldn't stop there again.

Location is about the only good thing

Posted 01-May-2017
Broken lift. Poor customer service. Additional charge for paying on card. Room keys temperamental. Very dated decor. Dirty laundry left in corridors all day/night. Noisy plant/fans. Not all that clean. Fair to say pretty poor in nearly all areas. Yes the price is low but there is a minimum standard you expect whatever you pay and this hotel fell short of that. Location is convenient but I would not recommend to anyone

Avoid. Find a hostel if you're desperate.

Posted 30-Apr-2017
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Definitely needs to be refurbished.
Location: Location is the only good thing about it. Other than that, avoid.
Spent £90 in breakfast for a night. Not worth it all all. Bed bugs, horrible smell, single glazed windows that wont shut properly, only one tiny bit of soap provided, bed was uneven. Spent an hour after check in sitting down and thinking about how I get out of here. Breakfast was not nice. Worst place I've ever stayed in.

Good value hotel,central location

Stayed here to go to Barclaycard arena for Bruno Mars concert. Hotel and rooms a little tired but perfectly adequate for one night central stay. Good night's sleep, easy to find and get around from, and breakfast was more than adequate. All in all great value hotel as you get what you pay for and really all we needed was somewhere to sleep for a night away.
