Very close to city centre. Basic hotel with basic amenities. Since it's in the middle of the centre, it's very loud at night. Staff was nice. I think wifi costs extra

Posted 16-Feb-2017
Pros: Comfortable bed
Cons: Wifi in rooms, better TV, cleaners bathroom
Location: Hotel is in a great location
No wifi, bathtub was dirty. Average room. It's okay if you want to stay there for a few hours

Cheap, central hotel

Posted 15-Feb-2017
The hotel is centrally located and very reasonably priced. The staff were quick and efficient. My room was small but cosy, however it was the first one nearest to the lift and I was woken several times during the night by people banging the door to the lifts and drunken shouting.

Location good

Posted 09-Feb-2017
Pros: Location
Cons: New management to take control and correct, the original hotel parts beautifull, expand on what they have , should have stayed boutique
Location: Excellent,
Dated, dangerous for evacuation and any emergency, small smelly rooms, curtains hanging off rail, rooms tiny with oversized furniture, windows didn't close, dirty carpets, dust throughout

A tired and grubby hotel which epitomizes all that is bad about U.K. Hotels

Terrible Hotel in need of a refurbishment

Posted 08-Feb-2017
Pros: nothing
Cons: this hotel needs a full refurbishment,
The room was small and cramped with single glazed windows which don't shut properly. this made the room noisy and cold. the bed was uncomfortable and the bath very small and chipped. There were two chairs in a small room, one which blocked access to the wardrobe and the bed - which seems unnecessary. The TV was tiny and there were very few facilities in the room. Overall the hotel felt like it desperately needed a refurbishment.

Basic hotel

Posted 07-Feb-2017
Pros: Location, price
Cons: Double check before allocating guests to smoking rooms
Location: Within 3 minutes of New Street Station. Plenty of restaurants nearby.
Hotel is very conveniently situated. It badly needs refurbishment as past glories are fading rapidly. Now seems to be used as a traveller / young people's hostel. Room was fine - bed reasonably comfortable and a very good shower. Downsides were a lot of late night noise from revellers within the hotel. And, most important for me, I was allocated a smoking room, despite my booking stating non-smoking. By the time I realised this it was too late to change. I had forgotten that there even are hotels that allow smoking in bedrooms. Net effect was a sore throat next day. Had to keep window closed because of the noise.

Just a bad experience

Posted 06-Feb-2017
First and foremost the "double" bed was merely two single beds put together so not great for two people The mattress was uncomfortable and the room window would not close properly so for a draft and the noisy street below
