The Douro using are (the resort) was very good as well. The room was definatly good value for what we paid. Stay wasn't completely terrible, lots of potential. We arrived and entered the unit to a very stale odor that could not be overcome. We had to go to the market and purchase scented candles to correct the situation. Please freshen it up between your "busy seasons of use" before clients arrive so that it is actually pleasant to arrive after a long journey to get there. Also, we unhappily discovered that the hot water heater likely was turned down to minimum/hibernation levels between seasons. We had 10 minute hot water for a shower, while the other guest had ice cold water or had to go without for the day until back from outings. Again, please come and prepare for your quests ahead of time. I spoke with the maintanence staff at the building who said he'd try to contact the HOA for help. Help did not arrive prior to our departure 3 days later. Too bad for us, I guess. Next time, be more thoughtful to make sure your guests have a better experience, especially if they are the first guest to use your unit for the "new season" of patrons. ##### Chris B. Showed up to the room we booked and it hadn't been cleaned yet. Contracted management and they got us upgraded to a better room, but still didn't get settled until 2 hours after check in. When I asked for late check out (12pm instead of 10 am) was told no. Room was already booked for the next guest. Overall cleanliness of the second room was good except big clumps of hair stuck to the shower wall. Tiki Bar/ wait staff was delightful. Overall, a decent stay. ##### Nick D.
