Moonlight Basin is centrally and conveniently located to enjoy all that Big Sky has to offer and a scenic drive away from an incredible Yellowstone day trip. Cowboy Heaven Cabins boast premier ski in ski out access to Big Sky Resort. These ski in ski out trails are some of the best on the mountain and are suitable for all levels. To help plan your trip, the Iron Horse and Pony Express lifts at Moonlight typically open early to mid-December. There is no ski access until the lifts open or after lifts close. Ski Out: Step off the back deck onto the groomed Gambler access run. Veer left and then immediately hang a right to ski through the tunnel below. This run easily connects with the Powder River ski run, which will take you to the Ironhorse Chair Lift. Ski In: From the top Madison 8 Lift, ski down Lazy Jack to the intersection of Cinnabar and Powder River. Stay straight on Powder River continuing through the ski tunnel. Take your first right and travel over the skier bridge, your home will be the 5th house on the right. It did take a bit of effort to get back to cabin at the end of a ski day. I thought we would be able to stop back for lunch or breaks, but it was a little too far from the mountain village & the high speed lifts. We had a group of expert skiers. The lifts close to the cabin were very slow. The main problem with the cabin was the smell. I am pretty sure there was a dead critter in the crawl space. We had to air out the cabin a couple times a day. I would have the property manager guarantee that they have dealt with the smell before you stay there. Also there is no garage and you cannot keep equipment in the cabin, even though there is space for it in the entry area. The cabin was very cute. The beds/linens were nice. The master bedroom was nice, but no door for privacy. The second bedroom was crowded with bunks beds. It would be better with a queen bed or maybe two singles. The bathroom attached to the second bedroom was small. I would stay there again if they took care of the smell! ##### Jennifer K.
