The best area to stay in Besnard is near the main road, the N2, particularly around the commune of Pointe-Noire and its immediate surroundings. This area offers a good balance of accessibility and local character. It's close to the coast, providing easy access to beaches and water activities, while also being well-connected to the N2 for exploring other parts of Basse-Terre. You'll find a mix of local eateries and small shops along this stretch. For couples looking for a romantic escape, staying in a villa or boutique accommodation slightly off the N2, perhaps with views of the Caribbean Sea, is ideal. These spots often provide privacy and a tranquil setting, superb for relaxing after a day of exploring the nearby waterfalls or botanical gardens.Families will appreciate the convenience of being near Pointe-Noire itself. There are often local markets for fresh produce, and the proximity to beaches like Plage Caraïbe makes it easy to plan fun days out with children.

The best time to visit Besnard is during the dry season, which runs from December to May, offering warm temperatures and less rainfall.During these months, you can expect average temperatures around 27°C (81°F) and lower humidity, making it ideal for enjoying the island's outdoor activities and beaches. This period is great for those looking to relax on the sand, explore the national park, or take part in watersports. For travellers looking for a quieter experience, the shoulder months of May and early June can also be a good option. The weather remains pleasant, but there are fewer visitors, which can mean more availability for accommodations and activities, and a more relaxed pace. This is particularly appealing for couples who prefer a more intimate holiday without the peak season crowds. While the wet season (June to November) sees more rain and a higher chance of tropical storms, it can still be a good time to visit for budget-conscious travellers, as prices for flights and hotels are generally lower.
