Lovely stay in perfect location
Lovely hotel right in the middle of Bergen. Staff were lovely, accommodating and service felt personal. Breakfast was delicious and the bed and toiletries top quality. The gym is very small and does not have a lot of equipment.

We had a flawless experience at the Opus XVI. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The bed was the comfiest I've ever slept on at a hotel, and the spacious room and bathroom were very luxurious. That aside, let me tell you about the crowning feature of this already excellent hotel. The restaurant. The food is absolutely out-of-this-world. We worked our way through the breakfast options, and as much of the evening menu as we could manage in our short stay, and I have to tell you that the quality, taste and presentation of every single dish was nothing short of stunning. In the coming months, I will likely take the 10-hour round-trip train journey from Oslo just to come back for the eggs benedict. One of our most enjoyable afternoons was spent taking afternoon tea. Each table was laid out with its own set of vintage china, and a pianist was setting the mood. As a Brit, I've had plenty of afternoon teas, so I can say with some authority that this one was both delicious and 'authentic'. In particular, the cakes were a triumph. The fact that they prepared their own clotted cream was a nice touch. We were hoping to join the Sunday roast buffet, but understandably that is not currently running due to the pandemic. We will definitely be back when it re-opens. If you are planning to stay in Bergen, I assure you, you should stay at this hotel - you will be delighted.

We had a great deal on price to stay and so pleased we did. Right near famous Bryggen Harbour and funicular. Erik, the receptionist, was super friendly and informative. Breakfast is al a carte and simply sublime. Rooms quiet, comfortable and luxurious.

A nice, but overrated hotel
Overall nice hotel with perfect location in the city center. Clean and spacious rooms with a very comfortable bed. The Hotel staff (and the hotel owners it seemed) are trying to make the stay as good as possible, but fail in proving the hotel is as a "luxury hotel", unfortunately. Upon arrival I had forgot to register that my girlfriend was going to be staying with me for the duration of our stay, in which a solid NOK ~550 per night had to be paid (30% increase of the marketed rate). It seemed like the person checking us in didn't really know why it was so and came across very rude, albeit something about all guest needed to pay for breakfast was mentioned. If that is the case, have I never in my life (having 80+ nights in hotels per year) paid NOK 550/person/day for a-la-carte breakfast (per person) of this quality. Don't get me wrong, the breakfast was good - but to pay such a price is mind blowing. I suspect they didn't reduce the price when they had to shut down the buffet breakfast due to Covid-19. In all, a nice hotel but not worthy of being classified as a luxury hotel, yet.
