This place was just as advertised, impeccably clean and super convenient to the beach and areas in town. We LOVED our stay - the quiet street, kind and friendly neighbors that live there regularly and the cottage had everything we needed to feel at home. We would 100% recommend and will likely be back next year!
Had a great experience here! Everything was as described and there were lots of fun extras! Within walking distance to the markets and less than ten minutes to new buffalo. Would come back!
Great lake cottage, nice rooms , yard and hot tub. Would give it 5 stars if had a screened in porch. A few hooks in the mud room would be a good addition to hang beach towels and swimsuits! Love Union Pier!!
The house is cute. Beds are SUPER comfy. However, it was dusty, and there was some fragrance in the house that gave me a headache the entire time I was in it, but as soon as I left, it went away. In addition, the kitchen table and chairs were a little rickety. That's also located right next to a train track and it's loud and woke us up several times in the middle of the night And there was a small ant problem in one of the bathrooms. I wouldn't stay there again, but it was cute.
The Claddagh Cottage is a lovingly restored property and was comfortable, perfectly situated, and a great fit for our family vacation. We loved the large yard and proximity to the beach as well as to “downtown” Union Pier.
A great house with an amazing backyard. The house was in a great location; walkable to one of the local beaches and shops in Union Pier. Would stay here again!
Super cozy apartment. The host was so friendly and helpful. She did such a great job thinking of everything for my family. This was a last minute booking and she went out of her way to make my family's stay a comfortable and fun trip to Vienna.
We loved our stay here. The town was adorable and it was a perfect weekend getaway. The house was exactly as pictured. Kitchen/bathrooms are well stocked
We really enjoyed our stay! The location in Union Pier is great for walking to a delicious bakery in the mornings and with a slightly longer walk you are directly at the beach. We spent a lot of time in the lovely yard, which has everything you need for eating outside, playing yard games, and making a nice fire in the evening. Highly recommend!
This was the perfect place to be to escape the city for a long weekend. Property was clean and as described in the listing. Management was responsive to any questions we had. Cant wait for the next time we can come visit!
Cute little cottage that is close to Lake Michigan beaches. We did run into a plumbing issue the first morning there where the bathroom toilet clogged and the shower stopped draining, but it was handled that day and they were very responsive. We also had a bit of an ant issue, they had someone out to spray the day after we reported it, but even with that, the ants did continue to be an issue. That being said, it is a nice little place to go for vacation.
We were very pleased with the cleanliness and accommodations of the house. No one mentions the train tracks directly behind the house that have a pretty robust schedule but it was entertaining for our 8 year old son. Loved the hot tub and all the yard and indoor games to play. Thanks to the hosts!
We were so pleased to be able to stay in this adorable and cozy cottage that had everything we needed so that we could be near beaches and plenty of nature. We had fun spotting deer and turkeys in the yard. The kitchen was stocked to cook a meal and we really enjoyed being able to grill. The clean and roomy hot tub was another great perk. Thank you for sharing your property!
We were a group of four friends visiting from Chicago over Labor Day. We found the house charming, well appointed and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable (as was the couch for an afternoon nap), and we found the kitchen well-stocked with the items we needed to cook several meals for ourselves. One note - The house is in a wooded area, so as would be expected, there are some creepy-crawlies both outside and inside the house, so if you are an arachnophobe, bring bug spray! Check-in and check-out were a breeze, thanks to a lockbox on the door. I missed an email that went into my junk folder the day of check-in so called the office and the person I spoke with was friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend this property to others.
Some Improvements & Updates Would Go a Long Way in This House!
Stayed here for a long weekend with four friends. Overall the house worked for our needs but we did have some things we wish had been improved.
Clean bathrooms, nice showers, good water pressure. Beds were comfy, linens could use replacing. Kitchen was well worn, almost all utensils, equipment and cookware needs replacing. The living room did not feel clean to us at all - the couch, chairs and tables were all dusty and dirty and in need of replacing.
The heat was hard to balance - we were cold downstairs and hot upstairs. The fireplace would have helped make it cozy but we had a hard time keeping it from getting smoky in the house. We think the flu could be cleaned to improve this.
We did not find the train to be noticeable at all - and when we did hear, it was not annoying. Neighborhood was almost silent, especially for five Chicagoans ha.
Some quick and easy updates that would make a huge difference would be to add some pillows and throws in the living room (there wasn't one in the whole house!) for lounging, add a motion light outside near the hot tub to make getting in and out safer and add some additional hooks in all the bedrooms and bathrooms for hanging clothes, towels, suits, etc. We counted 44 empty drawers in the house but little to no easy storage such as hooks for the six people staying in the house.
Overall would maybe stay again if some improvements and updates were made and house got a deep clean.
This place was exactly as advertised. The pics are accurate as is the description. The location is on a quiet street which was nice. The tres made it seem very private. Most importantly it was extremely clean. I have severe allergies and it's rare for me to stay somewhere new and not have at least a mild reaction, but here I had none. Would definitely recommend this property and rental company.
Pros: the location, the wonderful hot tub, the beautiful big yard with fire pit.
Cons: the bed downstairs dipped in the middle several inches and was topped with a foam topper that helped nothing. So old and soft. Pls get a good bed for your guests. We had horrible nights sleep each night. And that makes for very crappy getaway.
The house had nothing. We have stayed in many rentals in Michigan that are well appointed, like the place just next door to the north of this house, which was booked :(. This house is clean, but not cozy. In living rm exposed base board heating looked terrible--made the place look really dumpy. Just remove it or cover it.
Also, house not well appointed. This house had nothing. No olive oil, no spices, no shampoo, no conditioner, no soap to shower. A majority of places provide that and have something in the kitchen. We have stayed in two other places during the pandemic that had plenty of stuff in the cabinets, even coffee! Most places have dispensers affixed to the shower wall with the shower basics. The ad didn't mention the need to bring your own shampoo or soap to shower.
The t.v. was old and had poor visual.
It seems that rental homes managed by the owners are well appointed, well kept and decorated vs the ones where the owners are hands off, dont ever come to stay, and have a co. doing it.
We could overlook all of the cons, but not the bed. We won't be renting this place again for that reason. When we go away for a break we need to sleep comfortably. That's #1 part of a nice getaway.
Super clean and friendly space. Our family enjoyed the large yard, fires, and hot tub. Easy walk to coffee shop in town, walkable to town beach. Loved the proximity to Warren Dunes via a short drive. Loved watching dear and wild turkey wander through the yard. We are very cautious about cleanliness these days due to covid, this place was spotless!
