"The staff at Cassia Hill Resort are amazing. Two especially, Abby at the front desk and Carlos the security man were wonderful. Isabella in the restaurant is exceptional!
The location is perfect for anyone wanting to do excursions from San Ignacio.
The cabins are spacious and clean.
The maintenance guys brought us fresh coconuts to drink and eat.
Excellent place to stay. My daughter and I stayed 9 days and have great lifetime memories."
Hidden in the Jungle - Amazing wildlife- Waterfalls close to Ruins
2/10 Terrible
"This location is absolutely not suited for anyone wanting to do excursions, meet the locals etc. The community photo was AI generated.
Traveling 1-1/2 hour on a rocky, washed out, rutted dirt road in a rental vehicle was not acceptable, and at one point we received notification from our phone carrier “welcome to Guatemala, therefore we turned around and cancelled the booking.
I believe the owners pictures and explanations of the property are exaggerated, also three tour guides confirmed this.
Would not recommend to anyone wanting to spend time in San Ignacio, and do excursions. ATM tour alone would be 3+hours drive one way, cave tubing another 3+hr drive one way."
"We liked the pool and pool bar on hot afternoons. We stayed in the cabins; the trees have bright lights at night. We did have a small room lizard, scorpion, and ants on different nights, but the staff quickly noted and fixed a running toilet issue."
"Our stay was great, the place is very tranquil and well maintained, although some of the advertised amenities are not available. The hiking trails and the complimentary kayaks are not there so this information should be removed from the property description as misleading."
"Cahel Pech is a great affordable option in San Ignacio. The pool setup is a fun amenity and meals were delicious and reasonably priced. The hotel was happy to set us up with tours and local drivers too. On a Saturday night, the local town partied loudly until 3am but I can't really fault the hotel for that. The room could be improved with a new mattress and pillows. The view of the town is super nice and there's even a local bunny that is super friendly! Staff is top notch."
"It was a great little oasis atop a hill (a very steep hill) but a cheap taxi ride from town. The grounds were beautiful and serene. So many different varieties of plants beautifully landscaped. The pool wasn't too inviting. The lounge chairs were few and a couple of them were broken. They were setting up new lounge chairs on our last day there. Maybe we just caught them at a bar time.
The staff were very friendly but the restaurant/bar do not serve all day. Between end of breakfast and 4:00pm you can not get refreshments at the hotel. It didn't matter too much because we went on excursions but coming home at 3 and all you want is a drink by the pool. The menu is limited but it'll do for a quick breakfast.
Paula the concierge was very friendly and helpful in booking everything for us."
"West House is centrally located. Great staff, modern large rooms, good bathroom. No food options available but restaurants nearby. Would highly recommend."
"The hotel was pretty modern and new. The double suite was very large and beautiful. It was a pretty quiet, family business and the staff was so nice and accommodating. It felt like staying with family. The food was delicious as well. The area is pretty isolated, but a short cab ride can take you to town for groceries and restaurants. Super refreshing and pretty pool, and the beds were SO comfortable. "
