Relaxing Break

The property was clean and comfortable, with everything that we needed. Windows had mesh covers so could be left open without worrying about mosquitos (although there weren't many around while we were there). The owners, Carol and Gordon, live in the attached property and were very welcoming and helpful. They were able to answer any queries and suggest places to visit. The property is set in the mountains, with beautiful views. We wanted a relaxing holiday, but with places of interest within easy reach, and this property fitted the bill perfectly. There is a good restaurant within walking distance (El Charco, known locally as Miguels), plus a further bar and restaurant which we didn't try ourselves, and there are also several other restaurants within a few minutes drive. We enjoyed just driving through the local countryside and villages, getting a feel for the "real Spain", but also made several trips a bit further afield. The caves at Nerja are amazing and a good option for inclement weather. We also visited Granada and walked round the grounds of the Alhambra Palace (if you want to go into the buildings themselves you need to book well in advance). El Torcal is an area of limestone rock formations, and is well worth a visit. We took the easy option walking route, which took about 45 minutes and provided lots of photo opportunities for natural rock sculptures. Another highlight of the holiday was the picturesque white village of Comares, set right on the top of a mountain. The views from the cemetery are stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Los Romanes and would highly recommend this property.

Holiday with young family

Had a wonderful time here, with a 1 year old and 3 year old, very thoughtful hosts, who have thought of many small details in their property to make it well equipped and comfortable. Even ordered in a highchair for us to use during our stay. Lots of maps, guidebooks and extra information available for the local area which is so helpful.

A Truly Great Place To Stay

We stayed with Carol and Gordan at the end of Aug for 12 fantastic dys. The farmhouse is ideally situated to numerous places of interest. In fact even after 12 dys we ran out of time for the things we wanted to see and do as there is so much the area has to offer. Our hosts gave us the privacy we wanted yet were always on hand and eager to help us get the most out of our stay. The pool is fantastic and larger than we expected. Certainly big enough for adults to swim in too. This saved us from the heat of the day and provided great entertainment when we were having a rest day from all our excursions !. This is a wonderful base to enable you to see some of the amazing places Spain has to offer. We hope to return next year. Many Thanks Carol for all your help and kindness, especially bringing my 6yr old a lollly when he had hurt himself. Its the little things !. Xx

Lovely Villa, Lovely Owner

We booked our holiday a year in advance and every few months Carol and Gordon would email with updates as to what was going on in the local area, which was so lovely and really built the anticipation for our holiday. The views are beautiful, the pool is lovely, especially for smaller children or people that can’t swim, very relaxing and crystal clear!! The Villa was immaculate and well cared for. I can’t praise Carol enough, I was nervous being my first time driving in Spain, she was so reassuring and offered emotional and practical support. As a single mother traveling with two children I felt quite vulnerable, but Carol was hugely supportive and it felt like home from home. It was my Son’s Birthday whilst we were there and Carol made the most delicious cakes for him!! Just so thoughtful and caring and you really couldn’t be in better hands!! I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it 100% and I would like to thank Carol and Gordon for allowing us to share their little piece of paradise!

Perfect Break

What a fabulous holiday, the accommodation and destination were absolutely fabulous. "Tesorillo", on the edge of the beautiful village of Los Romanes, with views of the surrounding hills and lake Vinuela was everything and more that we hoped it would be. The accommodation was clean, tidy and well kept and had all that you could need for a great stay, Gordon and Carol were very friendly and helpful, though living on site they were in no way intrusive, and managed the perfect blend of being helpful and available but only if required or desired.Ideally located for a perfect combination of Semi Rural peace and tranquility, yet only a 30 minute drive from the beach at Torre del Mar. Great base for exploring or relaxing in this region of Andulicia, absolutely no hesitation in recommending a stay here, we would certainly look forward to doing so again.

Welcoming. Very clean. In the middle of romantic landscape in Spain

My family will never forget this house and the kind kind Gordon and Carol. I want to visit here one more time and stay longer. All of advices we were given was very useful. I cooked a lot. It was the best kitchen we experienced in Europe. We loved the village too. There is a very good organic bakery: you have to make an order a day earlier.

Perfect hosts, excellent accommodation

We chose this apartment because we have a large dog, and the property was spacious, scrupulously clean and well located. The hosts, Gordon and Carol are very friendly and helpful; everything that could be needed is there. The apartment contains a porch, entrance hall / Kitchen, fully equipped; two large double bedrooms each with their own en-suite shower room w.c. Mosquito netting on the windows mean that you can sleep at night with the windows open and not be bitten! There is a large lounge /dining area with large screen satellite TV and a cd/tape machine for those who want to escape TV, a good assortment of novels are available also. The property is in an excellent state of repair, with good quality fittings and well crafted woodwork. The garden has a nice above ground pool and is attractively lit at night. On the opposite side of the road are olive groves so that your dog can explore and experience new smells! There is also on-site off road gated parking. The apartment is out 5 minutes walk to the nearest bar/cafe and there are others in the village together with a local shop. Velez-Malaga is a short drive away and has international supermarkets there, Lidl, Carrefour etc. A little further on is the Eroski shopping precinct/mall with over 100 shop, and on the outskirts of Torre del Mar which has excellent beaches and restaurants, it also has a "Dog Beach" which is great because dogs are banned on almost all Spanish beaches, this is located beside "Camping 2". There is an excellent English speaking Vet in Torre del Mar for animals which need certified worming treatment before return to UK. They have an English website, and so cheap compared to UK ! Torre del Mar is approx 30 minutes scenic drive past the Vinuela Reservoir where you can practise water sports.

Immaculate peaceful holiday spot

We had a lovely 5 days in Los Romanes, very peaceful and rural. Beautiful lemon tree on the patio, we loved picking lemons for our tea! The kids loved the pool and it is a great spot for watching the sun go down behind the mountains. The villa is immaculate and well equipped, very comfortable beds. Carol and Gordon were kind and generous hosts, couldn't do enough for us, including inflating the plastic crocodile for the pool! Only 20 mins to the coast, the kids loved the water park at Torre del Mar. Lovely lunch on the beach at Torre del Mar. Great spot!

Great place, helpful hosts, lovely location.

We really enjoyed our stay in Los Romanes. The accommodation was lovely, the sun bathing terrace was great and the plunge pool was good for cooling down. Carol and Gordon were very helpful. We also enjoyed the fantastic views from the house and garden, as well as the surrounding area.

The apartment, location and owners all superb along with daily sunshine!

Our holiday was great. It started well with being picked up at the airport , after a long flight from cold and wet Glasgow, by our smiling hosts who then transported us in their comfortable car to our delightful holiday home. Our accommodation was even better than described on the website. Everything we would require for our self catering stay from comfortable beds, shower rooms, towels, sofa, kitchen equipment etc.were all to a very high standard. The village store and organic bakery were only a few minutes walk away along with the usual local Spanish bars. Nearby, a few minutes drive away, were 2 restaurants with fantastic mountain and lake views. We knew the area so revisited all our favourite places but due to the heat didn't do any distance walking. I caught up on my reading outside our apartment on our shady patio only disturbed by a lemon dropping from the tree above me. We love the area, it's so beautiful and it was so easy to get to the coast or up and through the mountain pass. We were sorry to leave and have to fly home to chilly, wet Glasgow.

Home from home

Los Romanes Apartment

We can happily recommend this apartment. It was very clean , comfortable and well-equipped. We even had our own sun terrace with lemon tree and idyllic views across the valley. Owners, Gordon and Carol were so helpful and when we mentioned that we were looking to buy somewhere in Spain, gave us some excellent practical advice. There was a useful folder with local points of interest and numerous guide books to help plan trips. The apartment is in an excellent location and within easy walking distance of a couple of local shops and good restaurant and bars. A good location to explore the local towns and villages. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you! . . . ..

Peaceful Location

We stayed here 10 nights whilst on a house hunting trip. The owners Carol and Gordon were very helpful and gave us lots of advice and suggestions. Carol contacted us before we arrived to arrange to get us some groceries which was very considerate. The accommodation is well positioned in the village and is within easy walking distance to a couple of bars, a restaurant and 2 small grocery shops. As it was February it was too cold to use the pool and garden but I would imagine in the hot summer months these facilities would be more than welcome.

Fabulous Christmas Getaway

In our opinion the accommodation is located in a perfect tranquil spot with magnificient mountain views from the patio and raised garden. It's situated on the edge of the village allowing for an easy stroll to the local bars and restaurants. It's clean and comfortable with absolutely everything you need. Carol and Gordon are perfect hosts. They go the extra mile to make your stay special, and communication prior to our visit was 100%. Can't think of a better place to spend a relaxing Christmas break and escape the frantic Great British Christmas rush.

A perfect haven

We have just returned from another lovely week staying at Tesorillo, Los Romanes. As ever we received the warmest of welcomes from Carol and Gordon, this being our fourth visit to Tesorillo it now feels like home from home. The apartment. as always was spotless and fresh with everything on hand. Los Romanes has it all, lovely walks, a very good restaurant, peace and quiet , the scenery is breathtaking. Carol & Gordon are around should you need anything, nothing is too much trouble for them, perfect hosts. The apartment is only a stroll to the village, we love the place and cannot wait to go back very soon.

Relaxing holiday in a beautiful location

We had a really relaxing stay at Tesorillo. The villa was just as described, well equipped and maintained, more like staying at a friend's place than a holiday let. The pool was fab, a lovely setting, great for splashing and cooling off, and for serious swimmers (not us in the August heat!) there is the village pool a 5 minute walk away. Gordon and Carol are great hosts, there if you need them with lots of good ideas and advice about the local area. The village is lovely, a short walk away with some bars and restaurants, but the villa is far enough away not to hear any noise from them. We visited Granada, Ronda and several more local towns during our stay - the roads are good, and much quieter than we are used to! The beach at Caleta was good - 20 mins in the car, and quiet even in August. A great place to stay for quiet relaxation, but plenty on offer nearby if you feel like exploring. We have recommended Tesorillo to friends and family, and will definitely be returning!

Relaxing Holiday

Lovely relaxing quiet holiday villa. The seating area and pool have great views. The villa is clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Slight niggle is that the kitchen is not that well equipped. But on the flip side there is a restaurant and 2 tapas bars within a 5 minutes walk. Please an additional bar. Been to this region before and the advantage of this villa is accessibility of things to do, 20 minutes and you are on the motorway. Would probably go when it is cooler next time.

relaxed friendly professionally run

We came to stay in Los Romanes for a friends wedding, Tesorillo really is as close to the village as stated, Carol and Gordon were very friendly and helpful , with lots of information of things to do in the area, but most of the time we probably wouldn't have known if they were there, it is a beautiful spot quiet and tranquil, the outdoor sunbathing and plunge pool area was lovely as was the annex which was also as spacious as it looks with two lovely bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, it really is a spectacularly beautiful area and I felt really lucky to have found such a great place to stay , well worth the money and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if I'm in the area again

A superb location

It was our first visit to the Vinuela area, we enjoyed every minute. Our stay at Tesorillo was everything we hoped for and more. The apartment is spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equiped with everything you need. The guest terrace is private, equiped with table & chairs and the most beautiful lemon tree. Carol and Gordon are perfect hosts, very welcoming, friendly and a wealth of information and advice. The apartment is well situated and convenient for the village of Los Romanos,whose location and surrounding area is stunning, with the lake, mountains and pretty villages. We found it extremely relaxing, quiet and a perfect place to unwind. We hope to return in the near future. Thank you to Carol and Gordon for your hospitality and kindness, we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Sun and relaxation

We really enjoyed a relaxing break at Tesorillo, Carol and Gordon were welcoming and helpful and the house exactly met our needs. We are not the type of people to spend lots of time on the beach but we found lots to do and see in the area however if you like the beach there are a lot within a short drive. The pool was enjoyed by all of the family, great for a refreshing dip after a day out or between chapters of a book being read beneath the shade of the lemon tree. Great place for those who like a relaxing holiday.
