First we love the Shanty Creek area and stayed there many times. This is the best of all houses in Shanty Creek. The setting is fantastic looking over the green and right down the fairway of Cedar Creek hole #1\. The first floor is big and open. We had a family gathering staying in two houses but using this house as the gathering spot. There was plenty of room with the adults upstairs and the kids down. The home is very spacious for the adults to hang out on the main floor, and for the high school and college kids to have their own space on the lower level. Everyone had a bed to sleep in, and that is hard to come by! The kids loved the pool table and the accessibility to the ski hill. The adults loved gathering around the cozy fireplace, congregating (and dancing!) in the large kitchen and playing games around the large dining room table. The home is spotless and well-appointed with everything you need to prepare meals for a large group. We took day trips into Bellaire and Charlevoix, so the location is ideal to bounce around up north as well. The owners leave Michigan treats for the guests to enjoy which is a thoughtful touch. The only thing we regret is not enjoying the fire pit area in the evening-next time! It was the perfect size for our large family, but there were definite negatives. First of all, there were dead flies in the master bathroom and kitchen. The bathroom on the main floor's toilet did not work properly. It would not flush properly even though we tried plunging it. We finally had to close it to our guests. This was a MAJOR inconvenience! There were also stains on the carpeting. So even thought it was beautiful, it didn't feel clean. Also, the dishwasher was not installed properly, tipping every time you opened it, making it difficult to load dishes. In addition, I contacted the property manager SEVERAL times about early/late check in. The promised to call me back but NEVER did. This is very frustrating when you consider the amount of money we paid for the place, only to be ignored. The good news is that we really did have a great time, but they definitely need to do some maintenance on the prop\[erty and work on customer service. ##### Michael F. Did a golf trip with a large group of friends and it went as smooth as could be, not a single issue with the house. Correspondence with the property manager was easy and fast replies.
