Our stay was certainly an interesting one. Upon arrival we detected the aroma of a skunk. Luckily when we went inside, that smell didn't persist. It was a clean, well-kept cozy cottage that we were excited to have for a few days.
But we didn't.
Turns out the septic system was obstructed or backing up. This could have been the smell, but much more impactful was that toilets were not flushing and overflowed our first morning there. A hole in the side yard would fill with pungent smelling sewer water.
After contacting the manager, Tressia, she was very responsive and found another property for us to stay at for the balance of our trip. It turns out that property was a greater cost, but we were not on the hook for the difference - which was a classy move we really appreciated!
Other comments on the property - we wanted to use the fire pit, but there was no cut firewood available. There were many felled trees that could have been turned into firewood, but sat on the ground as large as they were when they were living trees. The kitchen was terrific - well stocked, clean, easy to find what we were looking for - but the crock pot did not work. There is no a/c, but the attic fan does a nice job of evacuating hot air and creating some air movement - but it's LOUD.
Overall, this could have been a terrible trip, but Tressia's responsiveness earns a lot of extra credit! Thanks!
