The property is close to everything you need in Bayfield. As long as you do not have mobility issues, you are able to walk to the downtown area fairly easily. The house is beautiful and clean. We had access to a light breakfast of muffins, yogurt and juice with coffee access in our room.

Great time in Bayfield!

Jack was a wonderful and gracious host! We were able to walk to town for most things we needed and there were plenty of great places to eat. The view was stunning and the fresh air in the crow’s nest was wonderful to sleep in. Thanks Jack!

Charming B&B close to everything in Bayfield

The Pilot House is the perfect place for a few days visiting Bayfield and the Apostle Islands. Perched on a hill on the north side of town, everything in Bayfield is an easy walk, and the view of the harbor and Lake Superior are wonderful. We stayed in the Crows Nest room with amazing views. The bed was large and comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. The common areas include two decks where we spent our mornings and evenings. Muffins, yogurt, and juice were available in the kitchen. It would have been nice to make coffee and tea in the kitchen instead of in the small coffee pot in the room, but as long as you can manage steps with a cup of coffee in your hand, it works fine. Our host was available and helpful, but not intrusive. Overall, a wonderful stay in a nice place.

A very pleasant, quiet stay in a clean unit with a lake view. Large bed, large modern bathroom . A nice deck, and common living room provided good, quiet reading areas for us early risers

Very nice; would definitely recommend.

The room is reasonably priced and very cute and clean, the location is perfect, and I adored waking up to the view of the sun rising over Gitchegumee. The blueberry muffins are really tasty as well. Nothing substantial to complain of, and I'd certainly recommend this spot to anyone.

Quiet setting

Nice views. We did not have much opportunity to interact with the other guests as they seemed to stay in their rooms and not enjoy the common spaces. Breakfast is adequate but unremarkable.

Bayfield B&B

Clean and comfortable room. Convenient to downtown Bayfield and the ferry. We were able to walk to everything. Breakfast options at the B&B were limited. The driveway up to the house is quite steep and might be an issue for some.

Bayfield visit

The Pilot House was awesome! The views from the Pilot House were spectacular and the location is very convenient and easily walkable to downtown, to the ferry terminal, and to the Apostle Island cruise location. Our host welcomed us upon arrival and joined us for chats and shared stories. Jack made sure we had everything we needed and was very personable. Our visit to Bayfield and our stay at the Pilot House could not have been better. We highly recommend this rental!! Five stars 👍

Another Great Stay

This was our second time staying at the Pilot House because our first stay a couple years ago was great. It didn’t disappoint this time either. Great location, professionally cleaned property with a great host. Loved opening up our windows at night in the “crow’s nest” to get the Lake Superior breeze in our room. Didn’t have the pleasure of crossing paths with the host Jack this time but his communication was prompt and clear. I’m sure we’ll be back for our 3rd visit in the future.

Bayfield in the early winter!

The whole house is immaculate and our unit was the same. The only downside was that our unit at the top of the house was pretty cozy, i.e., small. The bathroom was actually pretty spacious but the bedroom was crowded for just the 2 of us. No false advertising, just small. The views in all directions were glorious. We enjoyed walking around Bayfield and getting in some great hikes along the national lakeshore.

Perfect location, great views

Lovely location & views. The bed was comfortable which was a great relief & we had overall a very peaceful and enjoyable stay. A little more attention to detail would make this place amazing. 1-there was an odd smell in the main downstairs area of the residence. Our upstairs room itself smelled fine, the odor we noticed was only downstairs. 2-there were accommodations for a light breakfast in the downstairs kitchen area, muffins, yogurt, etc. which was very nice. We noticed a semi-full pot of old coffee sitting in the kitchen when we arrived and it was still sitting there untouched the next morning when we went downstairs. In our room, there was a small hotel style "pouch" coffee maker, but when we went to use it (after realizing no fresh coffee downstairs) we discovered a soggy pouch still in the pot from someones previous room stay. Having fresh coffee downstairs for guests in a pump thermos would be a great addition to the muffins/yogurt provided. Making sure no evidence of prior guests before new guests arrive will make a huge difference. 3- We left some windows open at nite for fresh air. In the A.M. there were quite a few mosquitos in room and we realized one of the windows (on the left if facing the bed) had a small gap at bottom between the screen and sash so that is likely where mosquitos entered. 4-Suggest closing the open space between bedroom & bathroom w/ plexiglass for privacy.
